Somewhat disappointed
Received this fireplace in good order. Shipping was not a problem and it arrived on time.Assembly of the mantel was concise and straight forward. It is a mixture of MDF and wood but overall, a really nice looking and practical mantel. The burner leaves a lot to be desired. In fact, as soon as possible, I will start searching for an insert to replace the insert provided by Kozy World. I completed the assembly of the blower unit to the insert and then proceeded to the LPG connections. I was able to purchase an LPG/NG connection kit at Lowes. It contained all of the adapters required including a shut off valve. After completing the connection and the soapy test, I tried to light the unit. Be prepared, it will take more than the 30 seconds as advertised in the installation manual. It actually took about 3 - 5 minutes to purge the air from the line to get the LPG to the pilot.Once the pilot was lit, rotating the valve to the low setting produced no results. After turning the valve almost three-quarters, the valve clicked and the burner started to light. I have a big room so I was not too disturbed by having to set it so high. I turned the system off, all but the pilot, and placed the decoration logs onto the burner. Once you place the first log onto the burner, you can no longer see or hear the pilot to know if it is lit. If the pilot were to go out, I am not sure if the gas is stopped and not being able to see the pilot is concerning.Logs are installed and I started to rotate the valve and had to rotate to almost three-quarters before the burner re-lit. I left the position of the valve where the burner lit and turned my attention to other things. As I was entering the room, a quick glance at the fireplace showed it had extinguished itself. I asked my wife and she said she had not fooled with it and we have no children at home. I went to the fireplace and rotated the knob and the burner lit again. 20 -30 minutes later, while I was in the room, it extinguished itself again. I had to rotate the position more and it lit once more. his is concerning and the trouble shooting part said it is low gas flow or not enough fresh air. I know gas flow is adequate as all my appliances, excluding the fridge, are LPG. Range, oven, water heater and such. Opened the window that is directly beside the fireplace and 20 - 30 later it went out again. Do not know what is causing this but since it is the weekend, I have not reached out to the company. I will do that first thing Monday.I hope this will help you to determine if this is the right fireplace for you. It may be nothing more than a faulty valve. It is a great looking mantel and the price is not harsh. Because of the burner drives the low score. As soon as I can get a solution to my issue, I will report back.
