It's Red Heart Super Saver, I don't think it's unpleasant to work with but some people don't find it to be as soft as they would like. It does however soften up beautifully in the wash with a little fabric softener. I love this color way, it's beautiful! This yarn holds up and has great value for the money. It's tried and true.

I’ve been crocheting for decades. This yarn is a bit on the rough side coming off the skein, but it softens noticeably after being washed. It goes through washer/dryer cycles beautifully and just gets better with time. It’s a breeze to crochet with, uniform in width, absolutely does not split. Just four skeins worked up into a gorgeous afghan and I was using a pretty solid stitch. The yarn colors and color changes along the skein are superb making it fun to use. The only drawback I noticed was that one of the skeins did have several knots which are always annoying to have to deal with. Overall, though, still consider Bitty Stripes to be a VERY budget-friendly winner that would be appreciated by even the least experienced crocheter. I’ll definitely buy it again.

The colors in this red heart super saver yarn are very pretty. The yarn seems a bit stiff, but it does soften after washing. There was no unraveling of the first bit of yarn, which is a really good sign. What might be the best thing about this yarn is the price. Most retailers sell one skein of this yarn for the price I paid for two. This is an excellent bargain!

Like most fiber enthusiasts, i had my run with Red Heart as a new crocheter. Sorry Red Heart but this was a huge "loose." I hated the feel of the scratchy yarn and as a left handed crocheter in a right handed world, I would not pick up the hobby again for decades. BITTY STRIPES FOR THE WIN!!! I actually watch a swatch video on you tube for this yarn. I had also heard some techniques for softening the fibers once the project is complete, not the least of which is just plain washing and drying. This works!.... and the yarn becomes very lovely to wear. CROCHETERS UNITE! This yarn was meant for you! Any crocheter knows that most variegated yarns are meant for knitted patterns and when you crochet them you get weird splotchy patterns. Red Heart Bitty Stripes knocked it out the park in a huge way with this! I have a Prineville on my knitting needles which looks nice, but the crochet sweater i am finishing is stunning! CROCHETERS this yarn is for us! The stripes crochet beautifully in every stitch ive tried. It works up best in medium-small chain lengths with the larger chain becoming more blotchy imho. The price is affordable especially if you can find it at your big box stores, which i could not. Why?... because every time they got it in stock, it sells out quickly, for good reason. I ordered a many of the two skein sets as I could afford and I am enjoying the beautiful colorways, great stitch definition, and easy care instructions. If this yarn has the durability super saver is known for, I relinquish my view to never use super saver and I will be buying more Bitty Stripes.q

The quality is standard, budget Red Heart acrylic yarn. It’s not super soft or anything, but it’s really pretty (this is Lollipop). I like the frequent color changes. I scoured the internet for decent swatches and found very few. So, here’s my WIP so you can see it worked up: Ripple stitch afghan using size J/6.0 crochet hooks. I also swatched it in C2C and moss stitch but forgot to take photos, but it was very pretty in these other stitches, too.

I haven't worked with Red Heart in a million years, it seems less scratchy and awful than the Red Heart of yesteryear. The texture improved considerably with machine washing (warm) and tumble drying. Subtracted one star for a knot in the skein. Normally that isn't a concern but the color progression was interrupted. Fortunately my project ended just before the knot. Something to be aware of if that will cause a problem in your project. Great per skein price vs Walmart

I absolutely love the red heart bitty stripes yarn! The colors are so vibrant, nice 4 weight and it's actually softer than other regular red heart yarn colors. Nice thickness and not stretchy. Easy to pull from the center ( which i like).
