I got this purple shampoo for my wife, here is her review. My hair has been turning grey for quite a few years, and now it is 75-80% grey but it has different tones of grey from white to quite dark, I have noticed over time it has been getting grubby looking and having a yellowish tone, I recently tried purple shampoo for the first time and was blown away by the difference it makes. This is a part of the professional range by L'Oréal, and is in a 500ml refill pouch which uses up to 73% less plastic than a bottle, I have decanted it into an old shampoo bottle for easier use, it does need to be at the right angle for it to pour without spilling. The shampoo itself is purple and has quite a nice scent to it, I applied a good sized amount to my hand and then lathered it up into my hair, it does lather nicely and I rinsed until I felt it was all out, even with my hair wet it looked so much better than before, but once it was dried I really loved how bright the white was and how soft my hair felt. At £20.98 at the time of writing this review, although it sounds expensive for 500ml of shampoo, I really like how it made my hair look and feel , I would definitely recommend it.

Amazing product that I swear by.

My hair is bleached to within an inch of its life, with a silver toner applied on top of the bleach. I also live in a hard water area. My shampoo needs are therefore twofold. I need a shampoo that isn't drying, plus one that will neutralise those yellow tones caused mainly by hard water. L’Oréal is a world renowned brand so I was confident enough to give the Professional Silver Shampoo For Grey, White Or Light Blonde Hair a go. The shampoo comes in a pouch and so needs to be poured into the original purchased bottle of this shampoo, (or to be honest, any empty shampoo bottle will do). This is perfect for cutting down on plastic waste and packaging. The pouch contains a generous amount of 500ml of product, so will last me a while even though my hair is very long. The shampoo lathers well, has a pleasant fragrance, and is heavily purple pigmented. The instructions state to apply to wet hair, lather, then rinse thoroughly. I find for best results, I leave it on for 3-4 minutes before rinsing. If leaving it on for a couple of minutes before rinsing, proceed with caution. Don't leave it too long, 3-4 minutes max. If left on for too long it will cause something called 'cutical staining,' meaning it will stain the hair purple and the purple won't wash out. I use this shampoo once a week (every third wash) as it isn't advisable to use purple products for every wash for the aforementioned reason. Too frequent use can also cause cutical staining. I tend to find purple shampoos drying but this one isn't too drying at all. It also does a fantastic job of toning my hair and really helps keep the silver colour. Through personal experience, I find these purple products only really work well on bleached hair if the hair is bleached white in the first instance. If you leave the salon with warm tones in the hair after bleaching (every time for me until I finally, after about 40 years of visiting salons, I found a decent hairstylist who actually bleaches my hair properly leaving no warm tones in it), then these purple shampoos probably won't really help to get rid of any yellowing. Results will vary wildly from person to person depending on hair colour type and condition. For me, this L’Oréal shampoo is just right for my hair and I will continue using it.

My wife has been using this shampoo for a few months now and is happy with the results. It lathers up nicely and leaving her hair feeling soft and looks shinier after each wash, which isn’t always the case with purple shampoos. Overall, it’s easy to use, smells great, and actually delivers on what it promises. Definitely a solid choice if you’re looking to keep your blonde, white, or grey hair looking fresh and vibrant without a harsh or artificial look.
