Terminator, The (4K Ultra HD + Digital) [4K UHD]

my favorite film of all time!!!
Terminator 1 is a classic!!! it's one of those films that people NEED to watch before they die. not only is this film a classic, it's prophetic. just look at modern AI systems popping up everywhere, look at all the robots that look human being built around the world today and you will wonder when the militaries of the world will create a T-800. it's not far fetch that an actual T-800 will be built for war in the near future. i have a belief that major military powers around the world ALREADY have Terminators in secret bunkers. im not joking and it makes me wonder if James Cameron actually saw the future.i have bought Terminator through out the years on VHS, DVD, Blu Ray, and now 4k and if they release this film again on Holodisc i'll buy that too lol.this 4k release includes original soundtrack but personally i don't mind the remastered sound but if you are a die hard purist then this 4k have that original sound included.again, i have so much love for this film. it's so special and it still holds up today. even modern films can't compare. it's an amazing film. personally i like Terminator 1 more than Terminator 2 bc original Terminator is a horror film and is way more brutal than action oriented Terminator 2. that police station massacre still sends chills down my spine everytime i watch it. those cops were slaughtered, they stood no chance! even today, watching that scene still makes my jaw drop. it was brutal! modern Hollywood will never make a scene like that today bc of political correctness, but the Terminator gave no fudge and that is what makes this film so special.only complaint i have is that release feels "bare bones." no special features, no extras like a poster or some sort of physical goodies. besides that, i feel they did a great job w/this 4k release. 2027 is around the corner ;) Terminator fans will know what im referring to. maybe in 2027, they can do something to celebrate :)yes, buy this 4k version or you will be TERMINATED!!!

James Cameron’s best film is a masterpiece with something for everyone!
In the Fall of 1984, a micro-budgeted, ambitious action-horror-science fiction masterwork premiered to great reviews and international box office success, defying the expectations of a less than enthusiastic studio. Positive word of mouth and it’s placement on numerous newspapers and publications’ top-ten lists resulted in a film that remained in theatres well into the Winter of 1985!The little film that could was called “The Terminator.”Starting with an eerie opening nighttime sequence at the Griffith Park Observatory, the film screams classic primarily because of; Arnold Schwarzenegger’s chilling performance as an ice-cold, stone faced cybernetic assassin whose camera-like gaze and lean movements will having you suspend disbelief and believe that he is indeed the epitome of an uber-efficient killing machine; a profound, complex, and immediately engaging screenplay by maverick filmmaker James Cameron; excellent supporting roles from Michael Biehn and Linda Hamilton; and a gritty, relentless analog synth score from Brad Fiedel. These elements culminated into a groundbreaking tour-de-force of thinking man’s entertainment. It not only spawned a six film franchise and jump started the then burgeoning VHS sell though era, but remains a game changing work in the vein of “Forbidden Planet,” “2001: A Space Odyssey,” “Star Wars,” “Blade Runner,” and “The Matrix.”Although this Blu-Ray, boasting a new 2015 HD remastering, obliterates the 2001 “Special Edition” DVD’s picture quality, this release comes wholeheartedly recommended, but with some caveats:•The theatrical mono soundtrack is not included, only the new 5.1 remix utilizing sound effects from “Terminator 2: Judgment Day” at Cameron’s behest (the director always yearned for a stereo soundtrack, but the financiers only allocated 40K, which was absorbed by the SFX designers);•TV spots, a widescreen theatrical trailer, a teaser, television spots, and the international trailer are absent;•Also missing is Cameron’s commentary on the “Deleted Scenes;”•Bonus DVD-ROM supplements;•”Other Voices,” an hour-long behind-the -scenes documentary with extensive comments from the majority of the film’s principal players is omitted;•…and an exhaustive still gallery, Cameron’s original 1982 treatment, and insightful Easter eggs with numerous sound bytes from Fiedel, Cameron, and Producer Gale Ann Hurd have not been reprised. (Some consolation can be found with the inclusion of six behind-the-scenes postcard-sized photos).Purchase this Blu Ray if you haven’t upgraded to the newly minted 2024 4K upgrade and keep this flipper DVD (including a nice four page booklet) for the supplements.A must have no matter which version you choose, “The Terminator” even offers a sad, core romantic subplot, references to the dangers of A.I., and a nice encapsulation of the “steampunk” and “cyberpunk” movements of the era, all distilled through the visionary genius of its iconic pioneer, James Cameron!

This 4k transfer was everything it was hyped up to be
Absolutely outstanding quality transfer of this James Cameron masterpiece. Almost looks too good and the sound is great also. The price is nothing to complain about either.

Holds up well after all these years
Wanted my teenagers to know where those memes and characters come from so we watched this. While the animation and pupating aren't up to modern CG standards, it worked surprisingly well. Arnold fixing himself was still a squeamish moment and the robot going until the end was still a sustained suspense. Now they want to see T2.

Great movie and first time in 4K!
I have seen this movie numerous times and to finally have it released in 4K feels like it's overdue. I'll edit this review in the future, I haven't watched this copy of the movie in 4K yet. I still felt let down about some things. This is the 40th Anniversary of the release of "The Terminator" from 1984. I'll say I expected more for this version. The version I bought has only the 4K Blu-ray, no regular Blu-ray or DVD but it does have a digital code you can redeem for your own digital library. No new special features even a new feature commentary would've been nice, I know James Cameron is a very busy man but couldn't we get that at least? I did redeem the movie code and sorry to say it's just the movie, no extras. For the price point of $25 I would've expected more. But.....if you want to own this movie in 4K, this is your first chance. I still have my old MGM special edition DVD of the movie and unfortunately that's where every special feature is available so I'm going to hold onto that for awhile. So for future releases of the "Terminator" movies we all know "I'll be back!"
