Desert Illuminations Tarot: 78-Card Tarot Deck with Teal Painted Edges & Illustrated Guidebook – American Southwest, Mysticism, Chakras, and Astrology Review: Good deck for collectors of Indigenous or Southwestern style cards. - 2025 tarot deck in indigenous and Southwestern style art. Colors are atypical in that they’re bright and not native in nature. This deck is good for younger readers. Art is great and I can see many influences that are accurate fr the Southwest. The guidebook is typical USgames. Card stock is good and they shuffle easily. Edged green flat color. Following RWS approach to tarot. Review: Really cool - I love the vibe of these cards, and resonated with them immediately since I have lived in New Mexico. The cards shuffle well. The edges are matte turquoise. A lot of intention went into this deck. Each suit is not only converted into a southwest version (like pentacles became cactus), but all the cards within the suit are further represented by a certain archetype (ETs, cowboy culture, ancestors). The guidebook explanations are brief, but do a good job of tying the card into the cultural and historical context, and allow the freedom to apply the meaning to your situation. The author writes that these cards weren’t designed to be read in reverse, so reversals aren’t included, which might annoy some people.

A refreshing, colourful take on the classic Rider-Waite-Smith deck
A new release from US Games system is a fun new interpretation of the classic RWS deck. Drawing inspiration from the American desert and its inhabitants - cowboys, natives, criminals and aliens. Love the artwork, the artist did a great job. The aestheic is whimsical and the colours are funky. The teal edges are very pretty and the cardstock is thin yet flexible and durable. I recommend this deck!

Quirky, bold deck with Southwest theme
I've had my eye on the Desert Illuminations tarot cards for awhile...but kept putting off buying them. What always drew me to them was the bright, bold colors, the quirky images (aliens and cowboys!), and the overall Western, desert southwest, and Mexican themes. I finally bought this deck and I'm glad to have it as part of my tarot collection! A quick rundown of what I like about the deck: the illustrated box is a sturdy two-part box that opens easily. The borderless cards are fairly thick with a finish that leans more towards glossy. They overhand shuffle beautifully. I don't generally riffle shuffle because I don't want to risk bending my cards, but these are a little too thick to do that anyway (in my opinion - maybe an expert shuffler can do it!). The cards have a matte turquoise gilding on the side that really fits the theme. The backsides have a pattern that looks like a woven blanket with an eyeball pattern. The suit names/symbols have been changed to keep with the desert theme. I don't generally like when the names are changed, but in this deck it doesn't bother me as much. Here the cups become jugs, swords are daggers, pentacles are represented by cactuses, and wands are chile peppers. Different... The guidebook is 118 pages and I really like the way both the major and minor arcana cards are described. They're specific to the actual images on the cards, not just the standard Rider-Waite Smith card meanings. Each entry starts by describing the scene that is pictured on the card, then delves into the meaning. I appreciate that the booklet focuses on the specific card images. It's helping me get to know these cards better and read them more intuitively by really looking at all the hidden touches. This deck is really growing on me. I haven't started reading with it yet, but will work it into my daily card pulls for myself as I familiarize myself with this deck even more.

Bring the expansive energy of the desert to your sacred space!
I LOVE this deck! It brings the expansive energy of the desert to my sacred space. It stretches across time, space, and cultures and beautifully illuminates everything that makes the desert, and those who live in it, so unique. It is definitely informative about the historical figures and rich cultures, while also managing to touch on metaphysical and fantastical themes that will enrich your spiritual practice. It's vibrant colors and supernatural motifs add a whimsical dimension to readings, while it's unique take on RSW imagery and symbols makes the message clear and easy to understand. I recommend this deck for tarot readers of all skill levels.

I absolutely love this deck. The artworks and color palettes are amazing. Bright and vivid colors. I wish the cardstock was a little better because I know I will be using it a lot. I guess I'll just have to get a backup. The little book is way better than the usual ones, full of interesting stories about wild west characters an desert life. It's also quite wise. Love love love
