Received an old book. Had to reorder... So I've edited my review to 5 stars, for content. Read this as a teenager, re-reading it now as an adult lol concepts still stand. Books such as Hardball for women illustrate differences between men and women in corporate environment, whereas this book is easier to digest, and is more aligned with concepts illustrated in Co Dependent no more. If you're a man, and your partner is reading this book, I hope she has enough common sense to pull out relevant concepts and not go overboard in application. Interpretation and ability to comprehend the entire material as opposed to "cherry picking" is key here, and it generally is when reading psych books. This book isn't "dark psychology", it's helpful for a woman to understand the differences between the expectations and needs of men vs women in relationships. While reading the first two chapters of the book, I kept wondering if this was written by a woman who is an avoidant. But as the book progressed I realized that this book is more similar to Attached book, in a sense where it highlights the need for the woman to ultimately become secure as opposed to remaining anxious. A lot of concepts in this book clearly illustrate that even if the man has a secure attachment style, an anxious woman would be absolutely exhausting to date hence why the examples in this book illustrate that men seek someone who can hold their own (aka secure). This book is not about highlighting that the woman is the princess and the man is a sugar daddy who bends backwards just to get bread crumbs. It's about illustrating that men have very simple needs, and will go above and beyond for a woman who doesn't nag, holds her own, is fair and slightly mysterious. Does book is not about rewarding obnoxious, cruel women. Lastly, although I don't appreciate the author comparing men to 3-year-old boys looking for their mama while being mischievous, the author correctly captures the dynamic in a sense that while a 3-year-old wants independence, he still wants unconditional love. For me the key takeaway was: have a life, do not make your partner the center of your universe, treat him as a human being and make sure your partner respects you.. "Character discernment" goes a long way so if he's really mean? Leave and find someone who would treat you respectfully and is eager to be kind and polite to a good woman. This book assumes that the man is not cruel, and it does not teach women how to be cruel either. Entertaining read.

Das Buch vermittelt wichtige Denkanstöße rund um Selbstwert, Grenzen setzen und Beziehungen. Der Schreibstil ist direkt und teilweise provokant, aber genau das macht die Botschaft klar und einprägsam. Man lernt, sich selbst nicht zu verlieren und die eigenen Bedürfnisse ernst zu nehmen. Sehr lesenswert für alle, die an sich und ihren Beziehungen arbeiten möchten.
