If you own a hot tub, you need to have a professional water quality kit like this
This water quality test kit is essential if you own a spa/ hot tub. This is the same kit that the professional pool/ spa/ hot tub technicians use. Proper Calcium Hardness, Alkalinity, oH, and Chlorine levels are critical to keeping you skin safe while enjoying your hot tub. It would cost a fortune to pay a company to adjust your hot tub water balance and sanitization each time you use your hot tub. With this kit, you can exactly know the what the water quality of your hot tub is. Then you can add whichever chemical is required to keep your hot tub water safe, clear, and sanitary. I have purchased a Taylor water quality kit for myself, and both of my sons as we all have hot tubs. The directions are easy to follow , step by step, and extremely accurate. Hot tub water quality changes with temperature, time, amount of use, both over and under use, and the constituent of your local water supply. My recommendation is that if you own a pool, spa, or hot tub, purchase and use this kit to ascertain your water is safe and sanitary for use. Avoid adverse skin and medical issues related to using a hot tub that is not well maintained.

Essential and helpful especially for intelligent beginners
This is critical for initial (and ongoing) balancing of pool water. Strips are nowhere near as good but one gets what one pays for. If you’re just throwing up a little pool for a summer heat wave, this probably is not your kit. If you are serious about having a pool that will be up for the entire season or longer, this will be sufficient. If you’re in ground it’s even more important to have this information about your water balance. This kit is easy to use and very accurate. It has enough chemicals for many measurements for a season. I have in later years found I do not run out of test chems in a season due to knowing how my pool acts from the elements. Granted in my case I have a very consistent bather load (no kids, just me and my wife) so there are no wild swings in balance other than weather. Beginners advanced enough to consider cyanuric acid levels and their affects (alkalinity), and certainly in-grounders with tile grout, will appreciate this kit, tho beginners may find themselves testing CA more frequently in their first seasons until they discover a routine and chlorine type (di or tri) that delivers satisfactory results without running out of chems for the CA test, leading to the need for more of that chemical component. Don’t let that stop you from getting this kit! It’s a great kit and it’s better to know the complete water balance than to only know part of the picture (chlorine and pH) in a cheaper kit.
