People should know that the maximum stepdown is 31%. or expressed in another way a heating element of 1000w can be reduced to 690w. In my instance this unit was useless. There are other controllers that will do my job, with a maximum stepdown of 90%, i.e. 1000w to 100w.

The reason I got this was for controlling the speed on my hand blender where I got to wear my cake batter more than the bowl. It work's just great. I also use it for a fan I got to clear the smoke in my kitchen When I grill my steak and smoke out the house. I fully recommend this when you want more control.

I wanted to use this to control the speed of a variable speed motor. It stops adjusting the speed when the knob is turned about 1/2 way down and then the motor speed doesn’t change. It doesn’t go low enough for my use and doesn’t work as well as a hardware store rheostat.

I use it for my fluid art. It helps when I use a hair dryer to blow the paint. It's like my hair dryer has multiple settings instead of just 2.

This thing is not worth the space it takes in my trash can! It can't even dim a table lamp. Do not waste your money ir time.

On variable mode cannot get enough power to start fans only when in High position and adjusted just short of max output on high. Anything below high fans will not run. Variable function does not work well at all.
