Amazon smart plug in
I bought the basic Amazon Smart Plug to automate a few lamps around my house, and I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to set up and use. From the moment I plugged it in, the Alexa app detected it instantly and walked me through a quick setup that took less than a minute. The plug responds immediately to voice commands, routines, and schedules. I love being able to say, “Alexa, turn on the lamp,” especially when my hands are full or I’m walking into a dark room. It also works great for automating holiday lights and my coffee maker in the mornings. The design is compact enough that it doesn’t crowd the second outlet, and it’s been totally reliable—no random disconnects or glitches. If you already have Alexa devices, this plug integrates seamlessly. Overall, this is a simple but incredibly useful smart home upgrade. Highly recommended for anyone looking to dip their toes into smart home devices without spending a lot or dealing with complicated setups.

It CAN BE CONNECTED with Alexa! If yours failed, read this
I have two Amazon smart plugs, an old one that was released a few years ago ( in 2019?), and a new one (this one, Matter compatible). Setting up the old one was very easy, but this one is super tricky. It seems that Amazon does not make the old smart plugs any more, but only Matter compatible ones now. Actually I ordered one at the beginning but cannot get it connected with Alexa app after I tried many times, I thought it was defective, so I returned it and requested a replacement. After I got the replacement, the setup still failed again and again even though I really followed the instructions (both coming with the item or Amazon's online instructions). Then this made me realize that there must be something more than what it says in the stupid official instructions! AI does not help too! So I did a quick research and did find out the issue. Matter is an open-source protocol for IoT and smart home devices, it has been supported by Android and iOS. Alexa app can absolutely discover the Matter smart plug, but you MUST use your smartphone's setting->matter devices or matter accessories (regardless iOS or Android devices) to connect the MATTER smart plug FIRST, then it can be added by Alexa app. After your smartphone get connected with the plug, it will prompt you need a matter hub, for which you can choose Alexa app/Google Home, then follow the instruction and easily add the plug into your Alexa/GoogleHome device list. Good luck!

Easy to set up and use
Love these smart plugs. I’m using them for my Christmas lights. They set up quickly and once you set up a routine in the Alexa app you don’t have to do anything else. I have my lights set to turn on/off at a certain time every day. The plug is small but works perfectly for my needs. They’re compatible with Alexa app or speakers. Set a routine or a timer and that’s all there is to it.

very useful because of their Matter support.
For a while I've been thinking of automating my house. My daughter got a bunch of Alexa stuff, other cousins went into the Apple things... but I did not want to set up my house so I needed the Internet to turn on a switch. Eventually I got the Home Assistant Green which does not require the Internet... so I've been setting it up with the Zigbee bridge. Since our home has full WiFi coverage - with my home made mesh - Matter devices work very well. I suppose Zigbee stuff will do well towards the edge as they provide their own WiFi mesh... Anyhow, it works really well and I think this is a lot bigger than I though. Perusing through the community of users and developers this is much bigger than Amazon and Apple. Anyways, these devices work as promised. I just bought more. Likely will end up with a bunch that we'll control via our smart phones, tablets and computers. BTW, the people who gave this a one star... CLUELESS... they are CLUELESS... ignore them. Matter is a standard that takes out from being tied to one vendor... but the Alexa/Apple only people... well, they are CLUELESS... They absolutely miss the point of having an industry standard... not a manufacturer's standard. EDIT: One thing... when bringing up these devices with an Android phone, the phone will use Bluetooth to send its WiFi credentials to the plug. Make sure the SSID that your phone is connected to is also available for the plug. It turns out that I had my cell phone on a 5Ghz SSID at one point and of course the plug wouldn't connect. Just a heads up... simple and they tell you but until you've done it....
