Cosby delivers a gritty, layered story that’s as much a thriller as it is a sharp look at race, justice, and small-town America. I found myself pulled into the world of Sheriff Titus Crown — a complex, believable character navigating a chilling investigation and the deep-rooted tensions of his hometown. The pacing kept me hooked, and I couldn’t wait to see how it all played out. This book delivered suspense with substance, and I appreciated how Cosby balanced action with thought-provoking themes. Definitely worth the read if you like your crime fiction with depth and edge. Review: Wow! - I listened to the audio while reading the book & it DID NOT disappoint! (I recommend you listen to all of S.A Cosby audio’s) The story line was intense and kept me hooked from the first page. This is my second book from S.A Cosby and I’m excited to keep digging into his catalog.

so well written it brought me to tears
- The prose of this novel is a masterpiece of poetry and clarity. I don’t normally read thrillers so I am not sure how much it matters that this is the best one I have ever read, but it is, by a lot. It is gruesome and painful to read at times but the characters and place feel so real it is hard to believe it is fiction. I cried literal tears at the end, and I am not sure I have ever done that before. What really stands out is that the ending brought me there, as various character arcs were wrapped up. This is dark, stunning, significant - and some of the most emotionally mature and insightful fiction I’ve ever read. So glad I stepped outside of my comfort zone to read this.

Titus - a wonderfully developed character in a fantastic book
That Cosby kept my interest is an understatement; thus it certainly was a page turner. Why? The writing was not impaired by confusing flashbacks, or unfinished scenes. The plot rocked with new events seemingly every few pages to create ongoing conflicts and stress for our main character, and on me the reader looking over his shoulder. That’s called “suspense”! There were sub-plots, but they all fit together clearly. For example the preparations for the Fall Festival are mentioned throughout; this was good because it shows how difficult it is for a small law enforcement agency to deal with multiple issues simultaneously - which is realistic. The entire story with all plots and sub-plots were laid out in a straightforward, crystal clear narrative. The main character was fully developed in many ways, and wow - I cried with him and for him. The author writes with emotional power. I enjoy being apart of it like that, and that raises its value as a book to me. Of course, it helped that I connected strongly with many of his views, especially about churches, and religion generally. I guess it is not a series but I badly want to read more of Titus and his life and adventures. I have read all of Connelly's books multiple times and feel like I love Harry Bosch like a brother. Of all other law enforcement characters I have read, Titus is stealing my heart. For certain it is the best of 18 other mystery books I have read this year. A masterpiece for this genre. I give it a 97. (A+)

I liked it
This book started slow for me. It picked up in the middle and kind of fell flat at the end. I did enjoy it. But I wasn’t super impressed like I was with his other books.

...another exceptional S.A. Cosby novel that shouldn't be missed!
Book Review – All the Sinners Bleed – S.A. Cosby Whenever author Shawn Cosby releases a new book, I can’t wait for the new book to be released. “All the Sinners Bleed” is one of those books where you want to set and read all the way through while savoring every minute of the story. This narrative is about the first Black sheriff in the history of Charon County, Virginia – Sheriff Titus Crowne. A former FBI agent and criminal profile expert, Crowne returns home to take care of his elderly father and troubled younger brother. A year after his election, a school shooting rocks the small southern town when a beloved teacher is killed by a former student. As Titus attempts to get the young black student to surrender, one of his white deputies shoots and kills the student just when he was about to surrender. During the investigation, it becomes clear that the student the deputy shot had been abused by the dead white teacher, as well as by another unidentified perpetrator. The investigation trail leads to buried bodies of young black kids—and other dreadful secrets. While Titus tries to track down a killer, while balancing daily duties like protecting Confederate pride supporters, he must face what it means to be a Black man wearing a police badge in the historic Deep South. Cosby handles this tale with a plethora of difficult and dark subjects and issues with grace, magnetism, and uprightness. His writing style is – at times – poetic, intuitive, and insightful. He combines heartbreaking details with nonstop action and develops all the characters with complexity, realism, and relatability. I was extremely captivated by this outstanding novel and highly recommend it! This is another exceptional S.A. Cosby thriller that shouldn't be missed!

Good, but gory parts
I really liked the character development and the plot of the book. It was exciting, but a little too graphic and gory for me. That being said, I did read it to the end.
