🌙 Sleep smarter, not harder—block blue light like a boss!
Fit Over 99.9% Blue Light Blocking Glasses feature amber Spectra479 lenses that fit over prescription eyewear or stand alone, blocking 99.9% of blue light in the 450-510nm range—the most disruptive wavelength for sleep. Designed for nighttime screen use, these bright, clear lenses reduce circadian disruption without dark tinting, helping high performers improve sleep quality and maintain eye comfort during late hours.

Not suitable for sleep hygiene despite marketing claims — overpriced (seeking refund)
These glasses are marketed as blocking 99.9%+ of blue light across 450–510 nm and as suitable for sleep and circadian protection. I tested them using controlled colour screens at full brightness with all software blue-light filters disabled, including pure blue, cyan, violet, green, and white. Observed results: Pure blue (~450 nm) is dimmed but still visible, not eliminated. Cyan (~480–500 nm) shifts toward green/yellow rather than being blocked. Green (~530 nm) remains largely unaffected. A white screen appears light yellow, not deep orange or red. This indicates moderate blue-light attenuation (~450–470 nm), not full suppression through 510 nm as advertised. Conclusion: These glasses function as general evening / screen-use blue-light reducers, not as true sleep-grade or circadian-protective glasses. They do not provide sufficient spectral blocking to reliably protect melatonin or sleep physiology. Price and value: Price paid: £54.90 Based on measured performance, a fair price would be £30–£45. At £54.90, they are overpriced for what they actually deliver. Anyone buying these specifically for sleep hygiene or “virtual darkness” should look elsewhere. Stronger lenses with deeper spectral cut-offs are required for that use case.

Great price to see if these fit into your health routine. Quality seems good and should last a while. Comfortable and fit over both of my glasses. The first night I used them I had 3 hours of REM sleep (double what I have normally). That has never happened in the 3+ years I've been tracking my sleep.

Delivery took 10 days but refund is taking more than that. These glasses will fit only on half frame specs.

These Spectra 479 glasses are even better than I expected. The price point and quality appearance were deciding factors for my purchase, but I simply assumed for those reasons that they'd be superior to cheaper brands. What I'm pleasantly surprised to learn is that where other brands only screen 75% of light in the 280-450 nm range, these block 99.9% of 280-510 nm range. They really do block out blue light. Excellent product. And I like supporting family businesses too!

Review of Spectra479 Blue Blocking Fit-Over Glasses I’ve been using the Spectra479 blue blocking fit-over glasses and have been very impressed with their performance. The blocking effect is immediately noticeable—they truly cut down on blue light in a big way, making a huge difference in eye strain and sleep quality. If you're sensitive to blue light, these are a game-changer. The glasses are well made, sturdy, and feel like a quality product. I appreciate that they’re designed to fit over prescription glasses, but it’s worth noting that they don’t fit over every pair. I have two pairs of Rx glasses—these fit comfortably over one pair, but not over the other, which has a more oval shape. If your glasses are taller than approximately 42m (about 1.65 inches), you might have trouble getting a good fit. Overall, I’d definitely recommend them for anyone looking to reduce blue light exposure—just be sure to check the size of your frames first.
