Excellent Grammar Review Book
Excellent grammar review book, but it's not comprehensive. It can be supplemented with worksheets. The book pages can be copied, and the lessons are good for middle school through adult. I wouldn't recommend it for teaching ESL.

Best for a mini-lesson
The lessons are organized in the following way: section one~grammar section two~usage section three~mechanics section four~show what you know (independent quick skill checks) It does include an answer key All of the Language Arts (grammar, usage, and mechanics) standards are covered in this book. While the title suggests that each lesson is to be taught one per day, teachers know that idea is a bit grandiose. However, this is a good "go-to" book for any grammar skill that you need to teach. Each lesson focuses on one specific GUM skill (i.e. the pronoun, the interjection, introducing phrases, writing with variety, complex sentences) and supplies background information and a short writing exercise to practice that skill. As a 22-year veteran of teaching 7th grade English Arts, there's not much I haven't seen in regards to educational resources. But, I'm a sucker for anything that combines "activity-a-day" and "ready-to-use" in the title. I do like that the book addresses some of the trickier grammar questions (i.e. appositive, verb, or prepositional phrase?). Beginning ELA teachers would benefit from this handy guide. I use mine on my Kindle just for me, or I project it on the big screen using Kindle for PC on my teacher computer. You can capture the pages you want if you have Workspace on your computer~this allows you to project just the sections of the book that you need the students to see without having to scroll through the whole book. I recommend as a guide for mini-lessons, but it is not a complete resource. You will still need your English textbook or other resources for more independent practice.

Great ideas
This will help me with short lessons to teach Grammar. I can check to see which students need more help in a flash. Love it.

grammar that is easy to digest
A co-worker loaned me her copy of this book for the 2010/11 school year and I loved it so much I had to order it myself. It goes into detail without being boring. My students know more grammar this year than my previous students. It gives you 180 days of grammar, mechanics and usage.

- Perfect for middle school students
Pros: - Book has a lot of lessons covering all major aspects of grammar, usage and style. - Perfect for middle school students. Younger students will find concepts provided in the book too difficult, while older students require a more comprehensive set of worksheets and problem sets. - Good for "mini-lessons" to start off the day or introduce a new concept Cons: - No worksheets provided. - Activities are basic. Again, this book is best for the middle school set.

Good practical advice on how to ensure the children gain a good understanding of basic grammar, especially with the introduction of the new Sats coming in in 2013.
