Where is that green sheep?
My child is in a bilingual school but is struggling a little with the Spanish language part. I think she's a little overwhelmed with all the new words. I bought her this book to try to get her more comfortable with Spanish, both hearing it and reading it. This is a cute little story -- all about trying to locate the illusive green sheep/oveja verde. It is repetitive, but in this case that's a good thing. Hearing "donde esta" and "esta es" over and over again helps the child to remember the phrases and words, just like in classic Dr. Seuss books. This books uses contrasting sheep (thick and thin, high and low, train and car, for example) to also introduce new vocabulary words and to talk about opposites and differences. The illustrations are simple, but cute and engaging. My daughter and I both found this book fun and enjoyable to read.

Great for Babies Too!
My 9 month old may not understand the story or appreciate the language but, boy, do the illustrations keep her glued to every page! Bold black outlines and lots of curly-cues for the sheep's wool. This book has been holding my squirmy one's attention for going on 3 months now. She loves the Near Sheep the best. But that's because she's a baby and likes things near! Thanks to this book, "sheep" may be the first word she'll learn how to read.My only criticism, alas, would be the language. The rhymes are lovely and adults won't get tired of reading them. The thing that worries me (only a little bit) is the way adjectives are made out of words that aren't really adjectives: bath sheep, bed sheep, up sheep, down sheep, far sheep, near sheep, car sheep, train sheep, etc. Okay, these may be neologisms and I'm being too much of a strict grammarian or maybe I'm just reading it incorrectly.Whatever the case, I'm still giving it five stars because it is definitely a hit with this mom and her baby.

Catchy, fun, top 25 book but not top 10
We are hoarders of kids' board books, mostly because (a) our son loves to have books read to him and (b) we get sick of reading the same books night after night. So every few months we buy another 4 books on 4-for-3 promotions, and see which ones hold his interest. We got the green sheep book when my son was about 14 months old. I hadn't realized when choosing the cheapest one that it was physically smaller than most, or that it is bilingual - my fault, not the fault of the product or seller. He started enjoying it right away, and still does occasionally. It just isn't one of his favorites.I think overall it's a pretty good book for ages 1-2 or maybe 3, but it just isn't one of the top picks at our house. There just doesn't seem to be enough variety - after all, how much expression can a sheep convey?Worth picking up if you have lots of books and want something new to read. But if you're on a budget, I'd go for We're Going on a Bear Hunt or something with more of a storyline and better descriptors first.

One of Our Favorites
Second time purchasing this book because the first was misplaced. Great for toddlers. My only issue is the red oveja on the inside looks more orange to me. Both of my girls adore this book!

Favorite book
We got this as a replacement for another copy we had. My daughter loves this book so much that we ordered another one after the first one was read so much that the spine was cracking. Very sturdy, fast shipping. Will buy again after this second one wears down.
