Works as advertised
I read the whole thing front to back (journal start) and marked it up. I’ve followed the advice almost everyday for the last month and a half and there are incremental results for sure. Progress is slow but proper thanks to this book. I wish I did a better job at following it sometimes. All the stuff about nutrition, mind games, sleep is very useful even outside of the context of selection. I enjoy this book and it’s funny stories I between chapters very very much.Edit: it’s been a couple months since I posted this, and the book works. I can lift, run, and ruck more for longer and faster than I ever have before.

Just when it couldn't get any better
The author's first book "Ruck Up or Shut Up" re-wrote the standard on SFAS prep. There simply isn't any literature out there that can compare.. Get Selected, Chosen Soldier, etc simply scratched the surface of what Dr. Walton deep dove into. This follow up book once again disrupts the status quo of SFAS prep guides. It's anchored by hardcore science with citations and true bona fides. It's followed up with an ACTUAL DAY-BY-DAY GUIDE for 8 months of what your programming to be successful. It's dummy proof. You literally can't mess it up with what he has laid out.If you've picked up both books, read them, and followed through - there simply isn't more you could do to prepare for SFAS. Both RUSU and SUAR are absolute no-brainers.. get them now or you'll wish you did when you're sitting in tent city.

When you are ready for a new workout
I’m not training for anything Army related but I was looking for a hard workout that I can do and this solved the problem. Fantastic read and very insightful if you want to take your workout routine to the next level.

Comprehensive
Chapter 1 does a great job of establishing who the experts are and giving their credentials. So. Many. Credentials. Also sets up what the rest of the book will be about in TFVooDoo's classic, storytelling way. Definitely got me excited to keep reading.Chapters 2, 3, and 4 provide factual information with sources after just about every claim. Goes into the science behind the exercises, relates them to actual events within SFAS, and even gives possible (not necessarily recommended) alternatives for some of them. These chapters ensured I know this is going to be a careful and long process. I've followed workout plans before, and they've never included me actually tracking this stuff. Just get in the gym, drink some water, eat, and that's it. They were never measured. Not to mention mobility and flexibility were never part of them.Chapter 5 really brought to me the difference between unprocessed and processed food, as well as cutting through some traps of fad diets. The protein and hydration intake were very insightful, and I also like his awareness of sub-optimal places for food such as on campus or DFACs.Chapter 6 covers sleep. Little things like ensuring you get some sunlight (though I don't like it), setting the mood for bed, limiting device usage, and even noise and temperature were all very detailed.Chapter 7 is a really long technical essay. Very surprising to me were the sections on empathy. I was not expecting this book to have anything like that AT ALL. It also has many mental exercises you'll be using later.Chapter 8. Not much to say, they're skills. Knot tying, climbing, things to work on your dexterity.Chapter 9 is about writing. Writing your progress, how you feel about the workouts, things like that.Chapter 10, the last one. The Perfect Week Day 5 example is messed up. The quality of sleep scale isn't there, the "M" on Mobility is missing, the entire row on Deadlift is missing, numbers and all. Squat and OHP are missing the lines under the numbers, the Nutrition box is black save for the gray calorie numbers, and "RESEARCH" got bisected. It's one page, and it's an example page, so it's not a big deal, however, you pay for a product, you ought to get the whole thing without errors like that. Dr. Walton did clarify that it's an issue with Amazon itself, hopefully it gets resolved. One of the same praises I have for SUAR and RUSU is the stories between chapters. I love them. They break up the seriousness of each chapter and make me want to keep going.

Best bang for you buck
You’d be mistaken to not have read all these books in the series before going to SFAS. The programming provided is everything you need. One stop shop. Buy it and find out for yourself.
