Out of the box, you simply charge the battery and this DEERC Boat is ready to go. I have purchased two, one for my wife and one for myself. I have had mine a little longer and I let her try it, she was hooked.... so was I, for the second boat. This DEERC 'Fashion' Boat is fast and it handled the rough lake waves like a champ. No struggle, no bogging down, it simply just went. The boat is easily controlled though I only had about a 125-150 ft. distance before I was out of range at the lake. The only downside I have really found is that the battery is more of a specialized battery so you are limited on choices for backup batteries, though the DEERC one works well and lasts 15-20 minutes. I have several types of smaller 3S batteries from my cars that I thought would easily fit the boat, but all are a fraction too big. That fraction will not allow the top to close for battery compartment and it would net be sealed to keep out water. The two tier setup to get to the battery is simple to remove and put back together, as they use swing latches and once all is aligned properly, it easily attaches. Make sure not to force it and if you find yourself forcing the latches, something is misaligned. The latches and double tier system do a great job to keep water out as the inside stays totally dry. I see some complaining of the charger included. It is basic and somewhat slow to charge, but it does the job and does it safely. I admit I use one of my car chargers for quicker charge times, but the included charger works and is reliable. Just need more patience. Our RC experience includes having several RC cars, that are 1/8, 1/14 and 1/16 scale and so we are familiar with the RC world, but new to the RC boats. Each are fun in their own ways. For people just starting into RC boats, this DEERC Fashion Boat is the way to go. It handles very well, rights itself upright if it goes upside down or even fully submerged it will pop back up without you having to do anything. I have had mine upside down many times and each time, it turns back over and I'm on my way. Speed wise, I'm unsure of the 30mph, but I feel it comes quite close. I have no accurate way to measure, but it is plenty fast to scoot on the water and creates a nice spray. Very happy with speed though. The boat seems well made, but you need to be careful on the water if more than one boat is also moving. My wife is still learning to drive it (cars too) but unlike the RC cars, if you crash, you may not be able to repair it. She had her boat in the water for maybe 10 minutes (not even a full battery) and cut in front of my boat and we hit. Her boat was damaged badly with a good sized hole. I got a hold of DEERC to see if I can get parts for her boat to fix it. They got back within 24 hours and I explained what happened and shared pictures and after a few emails back and forth, they resolved the issue quickly. They are replacing the boat, even though it is not a manufacturing issue, but was human caused. Needless to say, we are very happy, shocked and surprised. DEERC Boats are great for beginners and advanced users, you can control them easily with practice, they are fast, pretty durable and an overall great boat. Add to it, awesome customer service and you can't go wrong. Highly recommend them.

Despite all of the hype you seen, I have GPS this boat with two different GPS units and the top speed is only 16 miles an hour with the included lithium ion battery. I do believe you can get 21 mph with an actual 3S Lipo. I will test that out. The plus side of these boats are that they’re so darn durable because they’re so light. I had a collision with my UDIRC arrow 005 and this little guy survived the crash while the Rutter on my arrow flipped over my propeller somehow. I had to use. The Deerc Boat to bring back the more expensive boat. These little guys are fun bashers. I have submarine to mine many times, and his come back after being submerged for a few seconds. These are fun to run with a few people that have the same boat. It’s a blast when ran with other friends racing together. Eventually, I plan on replacing the ESC with a 40 amp and seeing what she can do on 4s. It’s a lot of fun for the money and you can literally run it anywhere. Even a decent size water fountain is fun with this little guy, yet he can handle big waves, created by actual boats. It just will not sync and always stays upright.. I would give it five stars, if not for the false advertising on the speed.

It’s not bad. No chance it does 30mph even with calm water, full battery and the speed knob set to highest. I’m happier now that I cranked the speed knob up but you loose a lot of low end throttle control. It’s just not bad, especially now at $68 the price is getting closer to that $50 mark. I paid 79 and I’m not sure it was worth that, I’m certain it isn’t worth 109. I’m just disappointed bc of the reviews claiming it does over 30mph. Not true. Maybe 20-23.

All in all pretty good. Had trouble initially pairing it, but that seem to resolve itself and it pairs easily now. Speed is quite fast! Luckily, you can dial it down when you first start to avoid mishaps :-) I don’t know if it’s just this boat or all of them but left-hand turn works sometimes sometimes it doesn’t. You can imagine that this is a problem! It always seems to turn right real well and sometimes left real well but sometimes left not at all. I think it’s probably a cheap steering servo or defective or both. if you look at the inner workings, it’s pretty high-tech engineering. once I figure out the steering servo I’ll be completely happy, until then I give it four stars.

A little background. I have LOTS of RC. Bashers, race buggies, planes, crawlers, micro RC etc and this is my first experience with a speedboat. I k ew I wanyed brushless and 3S capable and this was perfect. My friend got one also during a sale and we both were floores at how much fun these are! Never expected to like it so much. It is fast enough for now, handles like its on rails. I did lose the rubber protector up front on 2nd use and I seem to lose steering to the left (could be weak servo) at times but the fun more than makes up for it. It keeps water out very well. I did crash into my buddies boat a couple of times and it survived without issues. My only concern is parts availability. They should sell parts separately but their customer service seems really responsive and willing to help source parts when needed. Highly recommended if you want to "dip your feet" into the world of RC boats. Update: on 3S lipo, the boat reached 19mph top speed using SkyRC GPS unit. Still lots of fun
