This is my second Apes paddle
This time I got the slightly shorter version. To me they play the same. My older one has worn down some of the rough surface material that this new one has. This is expected, but I must say that both paddles play the same and I don’t notice the roughness difference in actual play. I am able to impart a lot of side spin on my serve and under spin or top spin on drive returns . I like Apes paddles as they seem to have a tiny bit softer feel than other paddles. Both the short version (this one) and the longer version (my older one) have a long enough handle for a two handed backhand. I add an over grip to get the handle up to the grip size I want. Great paddle and the cover is slim and protective.

Losing spin and grit quickly, warranty not honored
I bought a Pro Energy S paddle. Despite it being refurbished, their website claimed that it is free of defects and have the same warranty as a new paddle. About 5 months later now, the grit and spin are almost totally gone. Pickleball Apes claims that the issue would normally be warrantied but for it being refurbished, they would not help me.So, the "free of defects" and "equal warranty" claims they made were empty promises. With so many competitors out there, my next paddle wouldn't be from them. There are many manufacturers out there that would actually back their products.
