Live Springtails, Clay Culture (16 oz,) for Amphibian/Reptile/Invertebrate Bioactive Habitats, by Critters Direct

The springtails are multiplying in my habitat and seem to be healthy. Highly recommended.

I ordered the springtails in seeding culture. They arrived quickly, in good health, and I've been able to keep them populating by adding a tiny sprinkle of food and keeping the culture slightly moist. I just poked holes in the top of the shipping container and move some into a vivarium as needed. My population has probably tripled since purchase a few months ago.

Never ending springtails! They do a great job as the clean up crew and keep breeding in the container. I put one fish flake in each week or week and a half and add dechlorinated water each time I pour more spring tails in.Great buy

First order: After 10 days on the road the springtail's substrate arrived completely dry and all the springtails were dead on arrival (DOA)...so I was sent a replacement.Replacement: A replacement was sent to me but unfortunately the replacement did not survive the 8 day trip...that's right, there were no survivors on this trip either, all the little bugs were DOA.I had hoped something different was going to be done with the replacement order, considering that none of the springtail were able to survive the first order, but that was not the case.I believe there there could be the possibility of survival if the springtails didn't take so long to reach their destination...8 to 10 days is too long for any living thing to travel in an enclosed container without food, water or proper weather protection.

The media could not be loaded. Update: *SUPER* happy with amount I've seen after just a few weeks. See video I added. I currently see many sizes/generations walking around. My growth spurt happened after giving them a dash of Morning Wood on one corner, then a dash of SuperLoad on the other + setting them next to the heat lamp I keep over my Dubia colony daily. I've already used this to seed my Dubia colony of 100 adults + offspring, plus my American Toads (who stopped eating their shed hence my need for bio-janitors). Very happy customer!-----------------------Second time I've ordered from CD and, so far, am happy. But will address what others might be curious about before buying - because I was.Box was delivered direct to my door because, after I chatted up my mail lady, she now realizes I'm buying live insects. I do wish though the seller would include a bright "Live Animals", "Live insects that won't hurt you" or "Hey, we're alive in here! Please deliver direct to door" sticker other sellers use.Springtails need 24 hours to "de-gas" and awaken a bit upon arrival. I did this shortly after they arrived. I previously bought just an 8 Oz culture and after a month, I'd say I have enough to control about half the skin shed & biological messes left by my 2 adult American Toads. I'm not sure if it was from that culture, or not, but I did suddenly get fungus gnats in a 2 year old gnat-free terrarium less than 2 weeks after introducing that 8 ounce culture. I believe it was from there, but that's life with animals. To overcome the gnats, plus provide enough springtails to my frogs' terrarium + my dubia roach breeding colony, I went ahead and ordered again but on charcoal this time.I'll admit, I wasn't super-impressed with the size of the container [online picture looks *much* larger] nor the number that arrived alive & walking..... however I know you're actually buying the unseen eggs and future generations. So I didn't remove any stars for this.I feel it's only fair to give the seller 5 stars for fast service + what I believe at this time to be a healthy future colony. I will edit my stars and review in the next month or so should the colony not propagate. I don't forsee that happening though.

Arrived earlier than expected and very much alive. Very pleased.

I saw a total of three spring tails, one was dead, there might have been more but I didnt see any, very disappointed.Update: the seller sent me new springtails, without charge. These ones were alive and well!
