There were no holes in the caps for the gasses to get out. The plastic is soft so not super clear but clear enough to monitor progress and cleanliness. Once I drilled the holes in the cap they are functional and affordable.

Use a 3/8 bit to gently drill through top of the bucket. Seen here on a 2 gallon food grade bucket from my local home improvement store. May all your brews & ferments be a roaring success. 🦁

I bought what I thought was the exact same kit not 2 years ago, and I see some changes already that I don't like. The old ones looked more like glass. They are in fact plastic, but they LOOK like glass! These Dbbogo look like cheap milky plastic. Furthermore, they are a softer material. You can push them between your finger and thumb and feel them give. My others won't give at all. They're also (think thinner plastic, larger circumference) thicker, so they require more effort to insert into the 7 gallon barrels and the plugs as well. I feel like they are going to just fold over like a straw when i push them. The rubber washers are just rubber grommets like used in automotive electrical. That's not a deal breaker, but the others had thick and attractive red seals. These just look cheaper. Since these actually cost MORE, Yeah, I'm not impressed at all. Will they work, probably. I'll know in about 3 weeks when the next 15 gallons of wine are done. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh wiiiine... soooooooooooooo gooooooooooodddd.... I'm sure they will work just fine, I'm just sick of being disappointed here. Like did you REALLY have to cheapen them EVEN MORE??? FURTHERMORE, If I could have bought like 25 or 50 of these at a time for a lesser per ea price, I would have added back a star, but making us only buy 6 at a time is an insult to home brewers worldwide. Sheesh at least give us the OPTION to buy in bulk!!! The bottom line is these just look like cheap junk. The other ones looked cool. The temp strips are cool, and I use those as well for "buch", but I already had a box of those, so while I'll take it, Id rather have had an option to buy 24 of these without the strips. I'm lucky enough to have a cold dark basement, so I never needed the strips for wine. The price would have been perfect if I had received the same product I received last time, but I didn't.

I needed fast for my wine fermentation and needed to rack over more. Got them just in time.
