Best shorts in 30 years
Why did you pick this product vs others?: I bought these at a store first, where I was able to discover that I needed them one waist size up, then immediately bought two more colors via Amazon. I also bought a second pair of the color I prefer, just so I know where that next pair is "coming from." Color: The colors are the standard cotton shorts colors. If they come back in the light brown, I will buy those too. Fit: The fit is comfortably full through the seat and thigh. The reach is at least medium, if not a bit longer than medium. (A must for walking.) As I note above, the waist in these shorts is larger than I wear in trousers, so one may need to go up one size. Pockets: Cargo shorts are for the birds (all that weighty stuff wearing holes in one's legs, or just useless, empty pockets), but the work-style pocketing is good for me. These are better because they have a tool pocket on each outside seam, plus a slip for a knife so that it does not have to be taking up room in a front or back pocket. Style: They are work shorts with a 10-inch hem. Perfect for me. However, I do not wear them as work apparel; I walk in them, frequently several miles a day. (Just finished in one pair a 100k walk abroad: comfortable all the way, every day.) Material thickness: I am only comfortable in relatively heavyweight 100% cotton. That's what these shorts are. Value for money: All kinds of expensive boutique shorts are out there, which I have tried, but none of them work for me. The hems are nearly all too short. The reach is always too short, the legs and seat not full enough. These shorts are the best shorts I have found in 30 years.

Comfortable fit
I bought a few pair of baggy cargo shorts years ago and I kept wearing them long after they were worn out because I couldn't find anything I felt was comfortable. All the shorts were either too short, too stretchy, or tight. I tried a pair of these and have reordered 3 more pair. I'm 6'3" and they hit right at my knee. They are roomy, but look up to date style wise and don't look to baggy. I like my pants to come up high on my waist. I will say these do that and possibly come up a little too high. I wear my shirt tail out so it's not visually an issue. Actually, I like it because I'm not tugging and pulling them up all the time. They have an extra front pocket that a larger cell phone fits in perfectly. The material is really tough and they should last a long time. The picture in the ad makes them look a little hokey and does not do them justice. I highly recommend you give these a try if you are looking for comfortable fit.

High quality shorts, but be warned about the cargo pockets
Comfortable and durable cargo shorts, but the side cargo pockets are very small and unsecured

If you wear them on your lower waist, then size down.
Great Shorts! Thick and Durable. Breathe well and Stretch well. Large and deep cell phone pocket. I have the Samsung Z Fold Brick. It fits and stays in the cell phone pocket at work. Inside of the Pockets are the same thick material as the shorts. Dirt and dust wipes right off. I am very happy with them. If they last I'll prob get another color. Sizing: I read the reviews about sizing up. I would agree that carhartt pants and Shorts Run Small at the waist, at First. After I've worn them for an hour or so the waist stretches a whole size up. I normally wear a 38 waist. Lately my 38 are falling down and bunching up with my belt. I'm 6' 225. My 38 s have been baggy on me after that initial hour I was talking about. I do have a slight belly and my pants sit underneath my belly on my lower waist. I ordered 36. They were tight as hell only on the waist. I wore them to work and sure enough, they are a 38 now. I also do NOT need a belt with them! I also hang dry my work clothes because they get washed so much. I hope this helps people that are in between sizes like me. Just know if u get the size down or exact waist, it's gonna hurt your belly until u stretch them out.

Durable
The outside (outward facing side) of the back pockets are lined with Cordura nylon. My wallet eventually wears through this area of my other shorts cotton shorts so that is a great feature. I am not a fan of the dark color of that Cordura lining where one can see it or the dark faux leather knife clip patch on the right hip pocket because my shorts are a light color. The ripstop cotton is lightweight enough to be comfortable but heavy enough to be durable. I am a big fan of the very large watch pocket. I use it for ear plugs. The cargo pockets have snaps. I prefer Velcro but the snaps work. The hammer loop is a little too small to use easily. There is a pocket on the right side rearward of the cargo pocket. Its opening faces forward and it does occasionally catch on things. I was working on kitchen cabinets and it kept catching on the cabinet knobs. The relaxed fit model is roomy enough to get up and down as in working on plumbing under a sink without binding. Overall I am please with these shorts and ordered two more pairs.

Repeat buy of these shorts
I had a previous pair of Carhartt Dungaree Shorts that lasted a good while. I eventually had to part with them as I wore them out. Comfy even though the canvas material was thicker than my other shorts I had previously. Quality lasts so that equals less waste in long run. Plenty of pockets to put items away and secure them.

Waist Sizing may be off
Due too these shorts being all cotton, shrink rates may flucuate and I found my usual size of 36in was too small. Now I have the hassel of returning. Overall I like the product and inseam length (10in) the look and natural fabic (cotton) feel are good. Sizing may be off.

I've worn Carharrt construction shorts for years, until they went off the market during Covid (they were buys making first-responder clothing. Now they're back, and they make great shorts. Tough, comfortable fit, lots of interesting pockets, good long inseam. All in all, a truly excellent product.

These are a cool pair of shorts , it's Carhartt what else do you expect. I read the reviews and went with the order your correct size ! If you do this you will have to send them back ! I would say order a couple of sizes bigger . I'm a 32 and always have been my carhartt jeans and work pants are 32 and fit perfectly, i tried the shorts on and they are about a 28 waist , maybe even smaller, if i were to re order i would go for a 36 or a 38, but i don't won't the wait to be disappointed.
