Really very very good
When I saw these open earphones, I was intrigued by the idea because my worst gripe about my AirPods is that I have to pause the music or remove the earphone to be able to hear people talking to me. Yes, these are expensive - so I tried a cheap brand, just to see if the concept worked. It did, but the sound quality wasn’t good. So I decided to give these a try, and I’m glad I did. Their performance is light years ahead of others. They’re very easy to put on, the flexible earpiece clips around your earlobe gently and they are comfortable for many hours of use - I’ve worn them all day and night without issues, only removing them to charge them via the case, which is nice & quick. They don’t interfere with my glasses at all, I can put them on and remove them without touching the earphones. And, best of all, they don’t fall off or out of your ear, even if you’re headbanging! I’m mobility impaired so don’t go running but I reckon they’ll be great for runners. Because they’re Bose, you have an expectation of great audio quality… and they don’t disappoint, especially in immersion mode, where the sound is amazing and really does seem to be positioned very slightly in front of you. There are 2 immersion mode settings, one where the positioning changes with your head movements, and one static where it doesn’t. Although the earphones don’t go in your ear like traditional earphones, the OpenAudio technology sounds just as good as if they were, without making the music audible to other people. The sound is fantastic for all kinds of audio and music, I have very eclectic tastes and the only type of music they don’t excel for is bass music where very low frequencies are the norm, but I’ve never come across earphones that are great at this, it’s their size. I have larger over ear headphones and a stereo with a big subwoofer for that type of music! They’re as good for listening to ambient music and soundscapes eg Sigur Ros, electronic music like Ladytron and classical music as they are for listening to the latest rock, pop and dance music. They sound great with Spatial Audio/3D audio too. I also find them great for laying in bed listening to audiobooks, they don’t hurt like other earphones can when you turn on your side and they’re pressed against the pillow. How do they get on in a noisy environment? Great. They have an auto volume function that can increase/decrease the volume based on the sounds around you, and maximum volume is loud - you wouldn’t have them turned up to the top for normal usage, I have them set at less than half volume pretty much all the time. You can control volume, playback, sound mode and even your voice assistant using the buttons on each earpiece, a click, double/triple click or long hold allows several controls to be used with just one button. I found the button to actually be better to use than the touch sensitive stalk controls on other earphones mainly because you don’t accidentally activate it so easily if you adjust the position of the earpiece. If you’re intrigued by these earphones but the price concerns you, give them a try… I realised what a good investment they are once I tried them, and use them far more than I have any other earphones ever, because they’re comfortable, don’t fall out of my ear, the sound quality is amazing and they let me hear as much of my environment as I want/need to. They’ve replaced my over ear headphones as my day to day listening buddies. They’re pricey, but they’re worth it. A definite two thumbs up 👍🏻👍🏻

I need a pair now 👍🏼😀
I purchased these wonderful open earbuds for my daughter 5 weeks ago as a gift and I'll paste in below what she has to say about them. Bose Ultra Open Earbuds: A Game-Changer for Comfort and Awareness As someone who loves to immerse themselves in music but struggles with ear sensitivity due to Pulsatile Tinnitus, finding comfortable earbuds has been a frustrating journey. That's why the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds have been a revelation. Finally, I can enjoy incredible audio without the discomfort of traditional in-ear designs. These earbuds have seamlessly integrated into my daily routine. Whether I'm unwinding at home with a book, tackling emails, or even whipping up a cake in the kitchen, they provide a delightful audio experience without isolating me from my surroundings. This open design is a major win, allowing me to stay connected to what's happening around me – a crucial feature that doesn't compromise on sound quality. Speaking of sound, the audio from these earbuds is simply mind-blowing. Bose has truly delivered an immersive and rich soundscape that rivals my over-ear headphones. It's hard to believe such incredible audio can come from earbuds that don't even enter your ear canal. In my opinion, this conductive technology feels like the future of audio. Comfort is paramount, and the Ultra Open Earbuds excel here. I can wear them for hours on end without any irritation or discomfort. They feel secure and stay put throughout the day, even during walks. While I can't comment on their suitability for running or jogging, they've been perfect for my everyday activities. I also appreciate the fantastic battery life. For my typical usage – listening in chunks throughout the day – they last incredibly well. The inclusion of Auto Volume, which intelligently adjusts the audio to my environment, is another standout feature that enhances the overall experience. The build quality of the earbuds themselves feels premium and robust, exactly what you'd expect from a Bose product. However, if I had one minor critique, it would be the strength of the magnet on the charging case. While it's not weak enough to cause the earbuds to fall out, a stronger closure would provide a more reassuring feel. While the price point might be a barrier for some, the exceptional audio quality, unparalleled comfort for sensitive ears, and the crucial ability to remain aware of your surroundings make the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds a worthwhile investment for the right person. Who would benefit most from these earbuds? Anyone who loves high-quality audio but struggles with the discomfort of traditional earbuds, or those who need to remain aware of their environment while enjoying their favorite sounds. If you have sensitive ears or simply value situational awareness, I wholeheartedly recommend giving the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds a try – they've been a game-changer for me.

Superb quality, sleek design, excellent sound
Sleek design and every part of it is absolutely superb quality - without the issue of a difficult inside ear fit! Sound quality excellent, very nice design. Lack of noise cancelling suits our purpose as it is safer to use when walking through a city or across roads. Excellent value and battery life is the best we have had on this sort of product. Its very comfortable. In-ear buds were not comfortable and had a tendency to fall out with heavier exercise, these have held on fast. So far, so good.

Do not ignore other reviews. Do not buy.
Great idea, great sound, great comfort but sadly in real terms a truly awful piece of kit. I couldn't believe the reviews so I bought a pair. They arrived and had a crackle on the left bud. So I returned. Next pair couldn't hold a Bluetooth connection for more than a minute. The reviews are true. Do not buy them. I can't believe they are able to sell them.

Could have been a total winner..
I really wanted to love these earbuds as they are unbelievably comfortable. I can wear them for hours and pretty much forget I have them on. However, they keep dropping the connection to my phone, even when my phone is literally right next to me. And the call quality isn’t great either. There are some really good features, such as immersive sound which makes the sound appear to come from around me and not my earbuds, but it gets a thumbs down from me because of the constant dropped connections. Retuned for a refund. Such a shame though, because if the Bluetooth and calls were as good as the comfort, these would be a total winner.

The most comfortable earbuds in 2025
The most comfortable earbuds in 2025 in my opinion , i tried all possible smallest earbuds for my very small ears also tried wing tips ear buds like bose qc ultra earbuds and they never stayed in my ear , and ear hook earbuds hurt my ears in general because I use glasses, these are literally the best design I seen and the only one that fitted my ear loves perfectly , with no discomfort what so ever. Also the sound in my opinion is one of the best, testing the sound of my unit using wavelet the bass is much close to neutral than what other people say , maybe I am lucky but that's what I can hear , also midrange and treble quite close too , and with aptx support as well these are mini-audiophile approved 😀 😉, the only downsides that I have is the lack of anc and leakage , I am hoping the 2nd generation would have a function to be able to have anc despite the limitations also another problem that I have is the leakage, I am always worried that when I use the the earbuds outside people can hear my sounds , I hope they will improve on leakage as well 😀, overall these earbuds are one of the best in my opinion especially for small ears but if you really need anc and no leakage and your ears are normal shaped then there are always the sony or bose earbuds that are on top of the market available 😁🙂

Finally, no ear fatigue and with great sound too!
After owning various Bose headphones over the years, I was dubious about the reviews of these, as Bose has failed to hit the heights of the QC35s, in my opinion... Thankfully, though, I think we have a classic on our hands again! I was almost instantly blown away by the fit and sound of these. Don't get me wrong, they don't sound as good as over-ears, but that's not what these are for, and they certainly don't sound bad at all. But the fit... no more sweaty ear canals, no more ear fatigue. I don't even care that there's no noise cancellation—these are perfect! I bought these to replace my AirPods Pro, mainly because of the sweaty ear issue, but also due to how poorly the AirPods connected with my iPhone during phone calls. If I already had them in my ears, there was no issue, but if I had to take them out of the case to answer the phone and continue working, more often than not, the caller would be sent to voicemail by the time the AirPods connected to my iPhone. Very frustrating. Cue the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds... They connect immediately every time from out of the charger, so I can answer the call right away—exactly what I needed. The immersive sound works well. In fact, the sound overall is fantastic, yet you can still hear everything around you. They don't fall out of your ears at the gym. They have physical buttons that you can customise in the Bose App. There are quite a few options in the app too, from EQ to firmware updates—it all works rather well. You can now have multi-point Bluetooth connections, thanks to the firmware updates (something that was lacking upon release). The sound quality during phone calls is good too, and you can hang up with a press of the physical button, so there's no need to grab the phone or rush to where it is when you end a call. Everything just works, and it works well. The fit—this is the game-changer for me. If, like me, you wear headphones for a while, you're probably familiar with ear fatigue. Not with these, though—yesterday I had them in for 5 hours, and if it weren't for the playlist ending, I would have forgotten they were in my ears. They are well-built, easy to clean, and easy to charge. The look might not be for everyone, but nothing ever is—these are for people who don't need over-ear headphones, for people whose in-ear headphones irritate them or fall out during exercise, or for those who are outside and don't like the artificial feel of "Transparency Mode." They're great and perfect for me. I think they'll be perfect for a lot of people too. Well done, Bose. I think you finally have another classic on your hands here.

Wanted a newer bose headset and these sounded perfect for me. How wrong I was.
I purchased this product as it had some very interesting concepts on how it would work and sounded perfect for me. I read the reviews prior to purchasing but I found that I was more disapointed than I expected from this product and I fell I've been let down by Bose. After 3 days of testing I came with the following conclusion: Comfort: I found the Ultra Open Earbuds uncomfortable, with ear pain after just 30 minutes of use. This was a critical issue for me, especially for extended wear. Battery Life: While Bose claims 7.5 hours of battery life, you experienced significantly shorter usage time (around 4.5 hours) when using voice calls or immersive sound is enabled. Immersive sound: This was very interesting sounds quality and I was interested in the option to have stationary mode where the headphones will adjust volume in each ear to it gave the impression the the audio was comming from one position of your room. This I could see a potential advantage where you may be watching TV or on the Monitor and you want to make it feel like it's comming from there instead of your headset. But this only works from your phone and I really wanted it to also work when connected to my laptop for video calls which kind of made it pointless to even have. Eq controls were also very basic to adjust and also did not work when connected to a laptop so that means my voice calls did not sound as good as I was expecting. Audio Failures: Occasional audio failures occurred even when the device was close to you, impacting call quality inconsistently. Bluetooth and no Multi-Point: The lack of multi-point Bluetooth support was disapointing but more importanly the relabiltiy device switching was frustrating. It worked the first day but the 2nd day it broke and I had to perform a reset to fix. I also found the phone app to be buggy where it sometimes lost connection and I had to close and re-open it to fix the problem. In summary, the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds have potential but fall short in design, build quality, and reliability. The premium price doesn’t fully justify the experience and there are far better open ear headphones around which are much better at sound and reliability and £100+ cheaper. I've had bose headphones in the past and really loved them but I feel they have lost their way and are charging you more just to have their name instead of focusing on quality. As a result I have returned them and gone with a different set of headphones which are still open ear but way better and saved myself £120 at the same time.
