I live off-grid on my ranch in a remote location, running my cabin on solar power. The local electrical and fire code requires my solar power plant to have an emergency rapid shutdown switch outside my cabin so that firefighters can quickly and safely shut down power to avoid electrocution.This OELFFOW IP67 outdoor red emergency stop switch with a protective cover is perfect for my use. It is weather-protected, dust resistant, and waterproof. Best of all, it is a conspicuous red color making it easy for firefighters to locate it.The emergency switch has a single pole single throw normally open (NO: terminals labeled 23 & 24) and normally closed (NC: terminals labeled 11 & 12) contacts, making it adaptable to any circuit that requires one or the other. The contacts are rated 3 Amps at 240 Volts and 2.5 Amps at 380 Volts. The rapid shutdown module for my system operates at 12 Volts DC and requires a normally closed contact.This emergency stop switch, once pressed, stays pressed (it is not momentary). To reset the switch, you have to rotate the button until it pops back out to be ready to be pushed again.Mounting the box is easy and straightforward. All necessary parts are supplied, except for screws for mounting to the surface it will be mounted to. That's okay because I needed self-tapping sheet metal screws - something the manufacturer wouldn't have guessed. A nice touch is that the box comes with a Hayco-style 1/2-inch seal-tight connector with locknut, making the wire entrance waterproof and secure. Also included are two blue and two red spade crimp connectors.Overall, I'm pleased with this emergency shutdown switch's design, durability, functionality, and reliability. It is working great with the rapid shutdown module in my solar power plant.
