The Picture of Dorian Gray

Love the cover of this classic, this gives me antique book vibes with a low price point. A wonderful story that is beautifully written, I enjoy carrying this with me out and about and it is very sturdy rattling around in my bag.

There was white glue on the spine of the book and some glue stains on the book cover. The edge of the spine was also a bit damage. This is my 3rd time ordering from this specific collection of classics and I was much luckier in receiving better quality books on my previous 2 purchases, but unfortunately this one was not managed with care. Other than that everything else was good.

Oscar Wilde portrays the power of art in 'The Picture of Dorian Gray.' Throughout this novel, art acts as a mirror that reflects cultural values, emotions, and ideologies of the society through the lives of its characters, Dorian Gray, Lord Henry, Basil Hallward, and many others. Its depth goes to the core of the souls. The moral of the story is that, even if the wicked can go unpunished, or the good ones not rewarded, success given to the strong and failure thrust upon the weak. Conscience will eat the wicked to death to pay for their sins. Oscar Wilde's verse novel distinct features are visible and make his writing interesting. It's a good novel to read especially for the art community.

I started collecting classic books about two/three years now, ranging from Franklin library, Oxford University Press, Easton Press, and Folio Society. I also have many from Harper Collins, which is my fav for reading. This one from Harper Muse is another good classic. For the price, I wasn’t expecting much, but I am indeed surprised that’s it exceeded my expectation. The cover is thick, paper is good quality (not some cheap wax paper), font and its size are good. Binding is good. The ribbon and darkened edges give it a nice touch. And it is rather heavy, too. Very nice! The only thing I’m disappointed about was the way the book was shipped. There’s no cover whatsoever. Someone just put the book straight into a big box, so the book got tossed here and there during transit. So there are few scuffs here and there and some of the corner pages got bend. Other than that, I can recommend this book. Can’t wait to read it.

Very attractive book, and good quality, especially for the price. Print is clear and easy to read and the paper is a nice weight. Definitely giftable. Arrived when promised and in perfect condition.

The size, design, and quality are perfect.

The book itself is printed brilliantly. It’s also a great choice of book. If you like romance (the artistic movement, not the genre) this is like a handbook to the subject.

Only 4 star due to the way that it's packed, in a box loose with no wrapping, the corner of the binder is slightly worn because there were other items in the box.
