I’ve spent years "iterating in the field" of protein supplements, and most of them taste like someone tried to flavor a drywall panel with a whisper of cocoa. This Ensure Max Protein Shake is a total anomaly. It is, without exaggeration, the best-tasting protein shake I’ve ever had. The "Milk Chocolate" Miracle: Usually, "Ready to Drink" is code for "Keep a chaser nearby." But this? It actually tastes like chocolate milk. Not "diet" chocolate milk, not "chemically enhanced" chocolate milk—just smooth, creamy goodness. It’s the first time I’ve looked forward to a protein hit rather than treating it like a mandatory administrative task. The Quantified Stats: 30g of Protein: That’s a serious amount of fuel for muscle health without feeling like you’ve swallowed a brick. 1g of Sugar: I don’t know what kind of wizardry was used to make 1g of sugar taste this decadent, but I’m not asking questions. 4g of Fiber: A nice little bonus for the internal "infrastructure." The Personal Verdict: If you’re like me and you value a "win" that requires the least amount of effort, this is it. No powder, no clumpy shakers, no lingering aftertaste of crushed vitamins. It’s just 11 ounces of pure, efficient bliss. Whether you’re recovering from a workout or just trying to survive a long afternoon of DIY projects, this is the gold standard. I’m officially done with the chalky competitors. This is the only one staying in my fridge from now on.

These protein shakes are very good and reasonably priced. They make a nice in-between meals snack.

Great flavor and perfect way to get 30 GM of protein with only 1 GM of sugar. I’m in my car several hours a day. It’s my go to breakfast and I always keep a backup in my car (either at room temp or chilled in my lunch bag).

I started with another brand, but after being shorted on my order and the seller not making good on promises to provide a new order, I decided to switch to a different brand. I also wanted to try vanilla and couldn't seem to find it in the other brand. I was able to order French Vanilla and Chocolate in the Ensure, but I couldn't find the Creamy Peach that is supposed to be a new flavor. This is a comparison. The other product I ordered was Premier Protein. It's a quality product, but cost me nearly 23 cents an ounce. It was thick and creamy and very tasty. The thicker fluid seemed more shake-like, but I didn't find that particularly important. The Ensure can be partially frozen to be more shake-like if the thickness is important to you. To me there is a slight, but not unpleasant aftertaste and tongue coating in all protein drinks. The tongue coating is similar to what happens after drinking a glass of milk. I could only order chocolate in the Premier Protein, so I can't compare the vanilla to vanilla, but the chocolates were both fine. Because of the thinner consistency, the Ensure reminded me a bit of a Yahoo drink, but it's not as sweet. As I said, the Ensure is thinner, but both flavors are equally good in taste. Both brands are 11 fluid oz, 30g protein. Premier has 24 vitamins and minerals while Ensure has 25. Both had 1 g sugar. The difference: After trying to research Ensure prior to ordering, I found out after the fact, there is corn fiber in it. Corn syrup can give me a lot of joint pain, especially in my hips. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the corn fiber will not have the same effect. If it does, I will update my review. The Ensure was 19 cents per fluid ounce, but while I was figuring out what I would say in this review, the price increased by $1.32 per box of 12, right in front of my eyes. So, at this point, Ensure will cost you 20 cents per fluid oz. So, at this point, there is a difference of about 33 cents per container. That may not seem like much, but over a year of use, it adds up to anyone that may be on a very tight budget. The Ensure comes in smaller boxes of 12. The Premier I ordered was sold as a box of 18, but it was only 15. I ordered a box of 12 Ensure that came with 3 packs of 4, packaged as they would be on a store shelf. The 4 packs were in a very sturdy box and the boxes inside another box. It's a good thing they were well packed, as the outside box had received some abuse. My product was fine. I ordered the Ensure Friday afternoon and by late Saturday afternoon, I had the product instead of waiting nearly 2 weeks as I did from the other seller of the Premier Protein. As I said, the price is better for the Ensure, I found the taste very similar. There is very little different in the nutritional components and the seller/delivery was superior. The two differences are the thickness and that Ensure does have corn fiber. If you need extra protein in your diet, or get busy and forget about lunch etc. like I do, I think you will appreciate the convenience of these drinks.

A little spendy, but worth it. The protein is great for keeping muscle while losing weight. I’m not a weightlifter, but muscle is still important. It’s premixed, so a shake is all I give it, which technically isn’t even necessary lol. It’s about the size of a soda, but skinnier a bit. Despite the slightly smaller volume, it is way more filling and nutritious than most soda obviously. You could definitely mix this into a smoothie or milkshake, it tastes good on its own as a standout ingredient, it’d be hard to go wrong. I think most people prefer the texture cold, but I like it room temp. I feel it has more flavor that way. The texture isn’t slimey or goopy, like some brands out there. It has a clean and fresh mouthfeel, like a regular drink but tastier. Milkshake in a bottle lol. For mixability, I recommend peanut butter, milk, bananas, or like ores and ice cream. Definitely follow a recipe. Blenders seem easy till you’re wondering why smoothies are so hard to make. Just follow a f****ing recipe lol.

Good protein shake. My only complaint is it’s a little thicker than I like but it does taste better than most protein shakes on the market.
