The YOTUO Model 5Y-HDD01 IS EASY to USE. Pug and play. Very RELIABLE AND COST EFFECTIVE.
Review Title: Outstanding and Reliable for Active Writing Projects Overall Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5) • Ease of Use: Truly "plug and play." I had it hooked up and running instantly with zero technical trouble. • Performance: After 6 months of daily use, it has earned an A+ rating from me. I have experienced no failures or glitches of any kind. • Best For: I am a writer of spiritual teachings and use this as an active drive rather than just for storage. It handles frequent opening and saving of files flawlessly. • Value: It is very affordable (cheap) but provides high-quality, outstanding performance. Recommendation: I highly recommend this drive for anyone needing reliable, easy-to-use external storage for their daily work.

Good for Nvidia Shield TV
This is an excellent portable hard drive. It works after formatting for the Nvidia Shield TV. I have lots of room now for all of my movies. It connects well with no drops and streaming movies from the disk is smooth and fast. No perceivable noise that I can tell all the way from my couch. If you need something for non-critical uses, this is a great option.

It already comes with a 2 year warranty
Synced perfectly with my acer predator helios. Shows 698 gigs available. Not too shabby out the 750 it's states to have. It was plug and play.

Formatting to use and compatibility great.
It’s great, works well, doesn’t over heat with continued use. Formatting to use is quick and efficient, and it doesn’t make a lot of noise while in use. Recommend for sure

Great, but can cause problems woth wireless headphone connector.
Perfect for what it needed to do. Only problem I had wasn't at all the fault of the storage device, but having both the storage device and a wireless connector to headphones plugged into the back USB ports cause connection problems with the headphones cause the PS5 wasn't able to send enough power to the headphone connector for some reason. Primarily a PS5 flaw tho. Getting an adapter (cause my PS5 only has USB-C ports in the front) and plugging the headphone connector into the front of the console fixed the issue and it's been working perfectly ever since.

Pretty dang good
I accidentally (before researching) bought this for my games on pc and assumed it would barely run as fast as an ssd but it actually runs pretty dang smooth for what it is , granted it’s still much slower than an ssd it still runs smooth.

Fairly typical dirty scam
I received this product, and it worked well enough. That's the only reason it actually gets two stars instead of a solid one star review. For the drive I got, the case was indeed a "YOTUO" whatever Chinese brand that's just a bunch of letters randomly thrown together. Pulling the case off, it houses a "YOYUO" laptop drive, with impressive specs - 7200RPM, 128MB Cache, etc. Or so it appears. Pull off the label, and there is an old used junk drive in there. First off, the YOUTO label they slapped on covers up the vent hole - you know, the one that they tell you never to cover up? But looking at the label of the drive underneath, it is actually a December 2016 (REALLY???) CMR Seagate ST500LM021 drive that was originally intended for a Lenovo laptop, with only 32MB of cache. Of course, they don't tell you this - they even crudely scratched out the two places on the drive that show the the date code. I had to do all of the research based on the barcodes and such. At least it is a Seagate ST500LM021 - not a bad drive at all back in the day. Not a bad price for a used one, either. If you do decide to buy it, use a tool to check the SMART data, such as CrystalDiskInfo. For newbies: If it says 0-20 hours of use, that means they wiped the SMART data, and you should promptly return the drive to the seller. If it says over 30,000 hours of use, it's lucky it lasted that long, and you should promptly return it. If it says 200-2000 hours or so, you might have just gotten a really good deal. If it has 200-2000 hours, do all of the testing you can, and if it passes everything, pull the drive apart, pull the lousy sticker off to give the drive room to breathe, and put it back together before loading it. I still wouldn't recommend putting anything real on it, though it would make an excellent backup drive that you only access once every few years, or else a drive that you don't put anything on you can't afford to lose. This drive was likely sold for scrap, thrown onto a barge with many thousands of drives like it, shipped to China, rebranded, thrown in a cheap case, and shipped right back here for a much larger price. Conclusion: I dislike dishonesty greatly. They lost most of their stars because of that. Other than that, in my case at least, I would say it was a decent deal. My drive turned out well, and now I'm using it in a laptop. Although, with how cheap SSD's are getting, I'd recommend going that route in most cases considering spinning platter drives like this one are much less durable, heavier, and pull more power than a cheap SSD.
