The perfect intersection of form, function and value.
I should start by saying, "I'm really picky about flashlights." My wife wants to put me in a 12-step program for obsessive flashlight buying. (This doesn't last long...I just ask her to step into our closet and I point to her shoe collection.) Anyway, I'm always looking for something small in size, large in lumens, and easy on the pocketbook. In order to find the perfect flashlight for the job, I have searched long and hard. Keep in mind, there's probably no flashlight made that would satisfy every need or situation. But if there is, the PIOOCAN L2 should come very, very close to it.First of all, 'brightness.' Not every situation calls for something with enough lumens to light a film studio. In fact, most of the situations I find myself in call for something not quite so...blinding. Also, realize, the brighter the light, the faster your battery will run down. The L2 is a perfect compromise on that front. Three levels of brightness, in an easy to use thumbswitch - double-click to go from dim/med/bright - and the levels are perfect for say, looking at directions in your car (too bright a light, and you'll be unable to adjust to see the road), looking around the room for where you left your glasses before bed (it happens) or searching the house because your wife heard 'a noise.' (Apparently, this is my job.) The supplied lanyard makes it easy to hook onto a nightstand or headboard. the hook lets you attach it to a shirt or pants pocket, or even affix it to the bill of a ball cap - mighty handy when you need to keep both hands free in the dark. The PIOOCAN L2 is rechargeable - but to do so, you have to remove the battery and plug it into a USB-C cable (supplied). I'm of two minds on this...it's an extra step to have to remove the battery to recharge it, but it's also going to be MUCH easier to keep it working should you drop it in a puddle or otherwise get it wet. What else? It's lightweight (solid aluminum body) and lightly crenelated bezzel make it an easy add for your every-day carry, especially when you're trying to 'go light.'All in all, it's a perfect choice for an EDC light, or anytime you need to see what you're doing, without calling in one of those howitzer flashlights that can double as a portable tanning booth.

I have a flashlight addiction.I found this little gem while browsing Amazon and realized that I needed a small orange flashlight because I didn’t have one. The PIOOCAN Rechargeable Flashlight with 1200 lumens fits the everyday carry niche perfectly. Here are a few things I’ve noticed since receiving it:Battery: The battery itself is what you plug in via USB-C to recharge. There is no charging port on the flashlight itself. Most of the other rechargeable flashlights I own allow you to plug directly into the body of the light. This is convenient but allows the introduction of foreign material (pocket lint, moisture, beef jerky, etc.) into the charging port, which can have consequences. The battery-only recharging keeps a watertight seal against the outside world using a silicon O-ring. There are 2 extra O-rings included in the box. The light will also work with a standard AA battery.Brightness Levels: There are 3 brightness levels on this light: Dim, Normal Bright, and Really Bright (my words). The light “clicks” on/off using the only button on the light. A partial push will toggle between the brightness levels, and the light will turn back on to the last brightness setting after you turn it off.Strobe Light Function: There is also a strobe light function that shows a fast, slower, fast, slower pattern. I initially thought it was me changing the strobe speed but eventually figured out it was the flashlight.Light Beam: The light beam itself has a great balance of spot and flood lighting that will work great in most situations. I think the fancy reflector has something to do with that. The middle part of the reflector is dimpled (looks like orange peel) while the outer part is smooth.Clip: The light clips perfectly to my ball cap and allows a good hands-free user experience. Someone commented that they didn’t like the clip, but it is easily removable if it bugs you that much.Heat: The business end of the light does get warm in Really Bright mode.Overall, this is a nice little light. Worth the money if you are looking for a small, bright, and simple EDC flashlight.
