Mid-Range Beast – Power, Efficiency & Future-Proofing!
I upgraded to the Intel Core i5-14500 from an older i5-9400, and WOW — what a leap! This chip is seriously impressive for the price. With its hybrid architecture (6 performance cores + 8 efficiency cores), it absolutely flies through day-to-day tasks, multitasking, and even heavier workloads like video editing and streaming.💻 Performance: I paired it with 32GB DDR5 and a B760 motherboard — and the results are fantastic. Whether I’m gaming, working in Photoshop, or compiling code, this CPU doesn’t flinch. Temps stay reasonable (even on air cooling), and turbo boosts are fast and responsive.🎮 Gaming: Don’t let the "i5" fool you — this thing easily keeps up with my RTX 4070. AAA games run buttery smooth, and frame rates are consistently high without bottlenecks.🔇 Thermals & Noise: Efficient power draw = lower heat. Even under load, it's quiet and cool. Perfect for compact or quiet builds.⚙️ Best of Both Worlds: The efficiency cores make a noticeable difference in background tasks. Windows runs smoother, and system responsiveness is top-notch — even when rendering or encoding in the background.🧠 Verdict: The i5-14500 punches way above its weight. It's the perfect balance between performance and value. Whether you're upgrading a work PC, building a mid-range gaming rig, or just want a CPU that’ll stay relevant for years — this is a no-brainer.Highly recommend. 💯

A great CPU
Fantastic CPU, fast, lower power usage vs more power output and great value :-)

Excellent every day computing
Very good CPU, meets every day computing tasks easily. Intel supplied cooler is adequate but a bit noisy. Suggest additional cheap tower cooler such as Thermalright Assasin X 120 SE for £15. Far quieter and provides improved cooling, allowing CPU to work at it's best and stay cooler.

Good for NAS
Good processor for a nas build. It is not affected by the manufacturing issues of the higher end intels. It has good efficiency and hardware transcoding capabilities. My nas system draws about 30w without any disks just the nvme.

Fastest performance I’ve ever had.
Great performance from a great value cpu.

Boring chip. Not a bad chip. But no reason not to get the 14400f.
It's okay. I think the problem is there's just so many other chips you can get at this price point that shoot this thing out of the water. It's not that the CPU is bad. It's fine. It's boring actually. I feel sad for Intel in a weird way. The ryzen series are just smashing it and you can get some amazing CPUs in the ryzen range at this price. So I can't recommend unfortunately. I can't even recommend if you were going to get this. I would get the ,14400f. And not even that you're better off getting the 12 th generation f series. Because you can actually overclock them if you know how and essentially make it exactly the same. Boring. It's the word that fits best.
