Hello, would I be able to transfer my files (mainly pictures) from windows Vista to this?

is usb cable itself detachable so that replacement of broken cable is easy or is it built in connection to main unit so not easily replaced if broke

The cable is detachable, and has a micro-B USB and a usb A. Its not the cable I'd worry about though; the drive I got was mostly dead sectors.

The title of the item states usb 3.1, yet if you scroll to the technical spec section it states usb 3.0? which usb spec is it?

I'm using it on USB 3.0 computer. However, on the box it shows "USB 3.1 Ready", so I assume there will be an upgrade at some stage for an improvement on USB 3.0 systems.

Is this usb external hard drive shown as 'removable storage device' or a hard disk drive (hdd) on the laptop/pc drives & partitions explorer?

I use it as a removeable drive a bit like a large USB memory stick
