3 star laptop for you, 4 star laptop for your dad..
.. If all your dad does is check emails, netbanking, printing and scanning and any other Brower based work including some word docs and excel sheets. People don't understand what a chromebook is. So take it from me because I've been using chromebooks since maybe 2018 and I'm never going back to windows or apple unless for a very specific need. A chromebook is a phone in a laptop form. Which means all the things you couldn't do on your phone because of its size and convenience, like properly view and edit excel sheets, you can do on your chromebook. All my work needs is a big screen, internet connection and a powerful enough machine. My phone has more ram than my old laptop (4gb) and still it's enough. So coming back to this Asus model. Its 8gb ram (overkill) with an entry level processor for entry level work. Its earned it's 3 star for that and 1 star extra for its price of 27k. It doesnt earn the 5th star because it doesn't have an IPS LED back-lit screen and a back-lit keyboard. My older chromebook does have those features and trust me, that is what makes the experience enjoyable. This laptop has an lcd screen (non ips) and you won't be buying a phone with that tech in this day and age, so why are manufacturers even making laptops with it. I can't imagine the cost of those parts being more expensive. Anyway if you are thinking about a machine to just browse on and don't want to spend money if not necessary, then get this. If a great display is a priority, look for a chromebook, if available, with an led display. If you want something with more power and a mid range processor, the n check out a 'Chromebook Plus'. And lastly, if you want something to run specific windows or ios softwares on, then get a windows or apple laptop. This has been a public service announcement on behalf of me!!

Useful Basics
The device performs as expected - fast, easy to type and carry, sturdy. Privacy shutter is good, camera gives some issues. The lack of a backlit keyboard can be can issue, but to be expected in this pricepoint. Handles heat and hard use well.
