Cute story!
My children and I really enjoyed this story. It is about an older lady and her dog who travel across Canada to go comfort her sister who had recently been sick. The illustrations are beautiful -- just gorgeous!!! The story is heart warming. We all loved this book from my nine year old to my active four year old. We also learned a bit about Canada. They loved finding the Canadian flag (as if it was a seek and find book). For a great light hearted read with some great Canadian geography, this is your book!!!!

Fun way to learn about Canadian geography!
A simply written book that felt like a fun cross country adventure. This was an easy way to teach kids about Canada and how the landscape varies from coast to coast. My kid loved it and has asked to read it again and again.

Oh Canada!
I think the Canadian Museum of History in Ottawa is one of the finest national history museums in the world. One can follow a single trail through the entire history of the country; it's sort of an historical version of a cross-country trip, just it's a cross-time trip. I thought of that as I read this book. Here, we get an impressionistic view of Canada as we travel from Tofino in the west all the way to Newfoundland. Coast, Rockies, Saskatchewan, Montreal, PEI - we get a little taste of everywhere. This is a kid's book, not a history or, really, a travelogue. It's not even explicit that we are following any particular route. We just start on one side, travel a long way, and end up on the other side. I guess parents could add whatever geography and history they might want to, as they read. But even just as a picture book, this is a treat. Carson and his mistress are cheerful and adventurous, and they make sure to have a good time as they travel and camp their way across the country. The vibe is upbeat and energetic. Carson is a peppy sort of dog and adds a good deal of personality to the trip. The illustrations are lively watercolors, intended to capture the spirit of the trip rather than the actual realistic landscape. The pair travels light and their tale is comfy and fun. It may not be Rand-McNally, but it gets across the size and variety of the country. It's also just a good lady-and-dog story. So, I'm in and I could see a little reader or read-to getting a kick out Carson and his travel adventure. (And I like Squeaky Chicken.) (Please note that I received a free advance will-self-destruct-in-x-days Adobe Digital copy of this book without a review requirement, or any influence regarding review content should I choose to post a review. Good Reading
Who wouldn’t love a summer road trip? I was excited to read a picture book about a Canadian woman who was a senior citizen. There are precious few main characters out there who fit all of those labels in this genre, so it was a thrill to finally meet one. Annie was such an adventurous person, too. She planned out her cross-country trip carefully and genuinely seemed to enjoy every new experience she had as she drove from British Columbia to Newfoundland. I also appreciated learning about her reason for making this drive. While I can’t share what it was without giving away spoilers, it made me smile to see how she made the best of a sad piece of news. That is definitely a skill that everyone should learn, kids and adults alike! Carson brought a wonderful dollop of humor to Annie’s plans. He was a curious little dog who had no idea what to expect when his human decided to travel. Some of the funniest scenes were the ones where Annie interpreted Carson’s dog noises in ways that made it seem as though they spoke the same language and he genuinely understood the questions she was asking him. It showed off their close and loving relationship nicely, and it also made me giggle. This tale did a wonderful job of sharing some of the most picturesque parts of Canada in kid-friendly ways. Anyone who is familiar with Canadian geography will probably be able to guess at least some of them, but the plot works just as well for readers who wouldn’t have the foggiest notion of where to find Saskatchewan on a map. I adored the fact that it left ample room for readers of all ages and backgrounds to bond with the characters and enjoy their trip. Carson Crosses Canada was a gentle and marvelous adventure. originally posted at long and short reviews

Este libro nos encantó! Lo seguimos leyendo casi todas las noches. La historia es hermosa, fácil de comprender, palabras concretas y la ilustraciones son bellísimas. Mis hijos tienen 4 y 3 años y no somos native speakers. Trae un mapa de Canadá al final.

I ordered this book as it covers Canada and I wanted my three year-old granddaughter to start learning more about this great country. I ordered four other books that are Canadian as well and now we sit and read and she discusses things about Canada with me.

The story is great and so are the illustrations. Speaking from experience 2.5 and 3.5 year old both love it and depending on where you live in Canada you can relate to it to make it even more fun!

I love the story, and the pictures are really, really nice. It would be perfect if the book could show the names of provinces and cities.
