(Note: Red case held green flysheet) Really well thought out tent, packs down small
First of all, thanks to the seller for accepting my apology - I spent hours finding a green flysheet version of this exact tent (not one of the older models still in stock on the web), and complained they'd sent me a red flysheet tent instead of the green I'd ordered. I was wrong - everything you can see when you look inside (the red bag) is red, but you have to take everything out to find the neatly folded green flysheet (and green/grey footprint handily included). So I was very relieved upon second glance - please don't make the same mistake I did! I have only pitched it in my living room for testing, so these are only first impressions: - quite easy to put up first time ever: very logical pole order and the best I've seen yet - very sturdy in self standing mode - essential in my opinion for any small tent to be self standing - superb space inside for 2, possible for 3 - lots of ventilation - really high quality materials - the flysheet is seriously durable, as is the foot print - good taping up to the bottom of the doors - fits inside the bag easily when done (no struggling to shove it down to get the draw cord shut) - zips move easily with one hand - both outer doors have rain gutters - this is a really well thought out tent and what Terra Nova used to be like before they outsourced most of their tent design to China, with negative results - surprisingly light and packs down small: my excellent 2-man 1996 Terra Nova Ultra Voyager (the lighter one) is only 200g lighter, and packs down to a longer but only slightly slimmer package. As the Elixir is truly comfortable for 2 to use, sharing the carrying means this is almost a null-weight gain.

Great design, bomb-proof build quality
This is a fantastic tent - MSR's description of the inside as "liveable" is underselling it, it's cavernous and really comfortable. It's also very well put together with some lovely design details like the massive mesh pockets in the side of the interior, the night-glow zip pulls and the mesh roof (which I can't wait for good enough weather so I can pitch it inner only and sleep looking at the stars through.) Recently mine stood up to high winds and freezing temperatures on a summit camp in the highlands - you can see from the photos there was a degree of flex in the worst of the wind but even in these extremes it felt solid inside, gave no worries about staying up, keeping us dry and warm overnight and in-between sunrise snaps. It's a doddle to put up with the colour-coded poles (even in cold weather when your hands are going numb) packs down small and is very light for the size, strength and price.

You get what you pay for
This tent is truly awesome, you get what you pay for. Having bought numerous tents over the years the most common gripe is either the poles or the zips. Most poles supplied with a tent break within a year, where you have to forcibly bend the poles they eventually give way and snapped. The zips are another area cheap tents fail on, the zips are generally sticky and soon start losing teeth. The MSR tent is totally superior with alloy poles that neatly slot together and are not bent under huge amounts of tension to ensure they hold the tent into position. The zips are decent solid zips that instantly feel like they're up to the job. Other key features: - The tent is lightweight and compact for a 3 person tent, you could easily put it on a bike rack it's so compact. - Lot of headspace inside so you are not completely restricted once inside. - Two doors. - Freestanding, ie you don't need to peg the tent out for it to be erected. - Decent alloy tent pegs. - Storage space, pockets on the side as well as small storage above your head (suitable for small items.

Most spacious 3 man tent we’ve ever had!
If you’re looking for a 3 man tent that you can comfortably sit up in when you’re a 6ft4 person then you’ve found your tent. Really impressed by the size of this tent and the height and space that this design allows. The interior pockets were handy to stow all our smaller bits of kit and the pockets on the top allowed for our lights to be stashed there too. Having two doors meant we didn’t have to climb over each other to get out in the night and it meant we had extra space to store gear too. The interior netting didn’t touch the exterior sheet at all which meant all the rain stayed outside the tent (one bug bear of mine with previous tents) and we only used the guy ropes on windier nights. Coped really well with the wind in some exposed spots and the pegs are nice and sturdy too. Over all - really really impressed with this tent and glad I finally but the bullet and bought it!!

VERY IMPRESSED.
This tent is light and rugged! Packs down into a very small hiking package. It feels and looks premium because it is, very impressed. I managed to put it up in windy conditions in around 15 min flat, and that’s the first time I have ever put a tent up. Super easy to erect and put back down. If you have the budget look no further. The green cover looks beautiful in the sunshine, it has a reflective effect or sheen to it, very nice indeed. It’s warm and spacious inside with plenty of places to store and hang things. The frame is solid and didn’t not move in 15mph winds.

Completely failed afrer 3 years
I would have raved about this tent all day. Interior and exterior space, weight, packed size. Unfortunately the waterproofing of the flysheet has uterly failed on mine, and my friends 3 man version of this at just 3.5 years old and fairly light use. We are both seasoned campers and have many tents, as well as being scout leaders looking after plenty more and have never seen this problem before. I can only hope the V2 means they realised this problem and have changed it but I would take a good look at many reveiws before commiting this large expense. Personally I will not buy another MSR product now.

Great wild camping tent
Light, spacious, strong, easy to erect and the two side doors are it easy for two occupants to get in and out with no inconveniencing if one another, also it looks good. Bit of a tarsus too, as appears much bigger inside than it looks from outside. My son got one and o was that impressed I bought one myself using if wild camping and on last years 52nd OMM race.
