Too much effort required
Yet another piece of Chinese junk that requires far too much effort to set up. I've set it up several times only for it to become unreachable and thus unusable. The transitions are too fast and instead of being immersive are simply distracting and annoying. Admittedly, this is probably something that could be sorted if I could get the damn thing to stay connected to the rubbish app long enough to adjust settings. At this price point the thing should just be plug and play and 5ghz compatible, or at least have bluetooth for setup ease like other products. Would not recommend based on my experience so far. Edit: I've had it and tinkered with it for a few days now and still think its overrated. There are options to set the extent to which the LEDs copy the colours on the screen: The 4D option, which allegedly copies the screen colours exactly, simply doesnt really do what it says. For me the setting is too distracting. The 3D option which allegedly approximates the colours on the screen tries hard but again fails to match the colours properly. However its less distracting. 2D mode is meant to simply project the dominant screen colour, but again, it doesnt really do this very well. 1D mode simply shines white. This is the only mode that is accurate. There are vibrancy settings in the app which allow you to switch between Cinematic, Vivid and Custom. Cinematic and Vivid seem nearly identical to my eye and changing settings in the Custom menu just turns everything either blue or green or completely washed out.

Pretty good... but set-up could be easier
Once set up the nanoleaf 4D Screen Mirror delivers an amazing experience with the right content, it does best with colourful and bright content (the space scenes in Interstellar for example delivered a sub-par experience, but other content such as fireworks and graphics deliver a good experience in 4D mode) but it can be a bit tricky to set up. I used the kit with a 65" TV and had to use the included corner guides due to the back of the TV being relatively flat, the kit works best with a TV that has a curve to its back because as mentioned in another review, the included corner guides can be a bit fiddly to deal with. On set up the controller in the kit crashed when setting up the corners (as it needs to know where the corners are to accurately set the LEDs) but otherwise set up was quite smooth. One thing the set-up guide doesn't mention (either in the included booklet or the app) is to remind you to remove the cap from the camera, as it's how the kit works (specific groups of pixels are monitored in the camera feed and the corresponding LEDs are set to the mean colour of those pixels). Removing the cap from the camera isn't an obvious step and there's no prompting to remove the cap during the calibration stage when setting the boundaries of the screen. The kit needs to be switched on/off manually, but given the camera is there a good feature to add would be to automatically turn the kit on and off with the TV (as the camera can be used to detect when the screen is on and then turn the kit on and off). For more advanced users, the kit can be connected to Home Assistant and paired with a sensor and an automation to turn the kit on and off automatically (i.e. turn the kit on when a smart power-monitoring plug reports an increased power draw for your TV). The kit can be controlled with your phone via an app and pairing is relatively seamless, and if you have other nanoleaf lights the kit can be extended to them in order to provide an even more immersive experience. Is this kit required for a good viewing experience? No, but it is cool and adds a "wow factor" when viewing content. As expected it requires a relatively dark room, but this is a given for lighting of this type.

Wow.. !
I dont normally bother writing reviews but if you are considering buying this item, you wont regret it. You can pay about £500 for the philips Hue system or less than £100 for this ? its a no brainer. Easy to set up. App installed easily and the calibration of the camera was straightforward. The fitting of the corner pieces was easy and the led strip itself was fine but I did have to use some extra Command Strip stickers to ensure the 90 bend on the led srip stayed in place. I fitted teh camera at the bottom on the top of the unit in front of teh TV, so unlike the Govee this camera can be mounted top or bottom There are loads of settings and colour options so its easy to tailor it to the type of lighting intensity you want. Response time is good with no real lag. In the video i attached the setting is Full 4D with that set to Vivid and the lighting intensity dialled back a little. I would recommend that the colour of teh wall behind teh TV is either white or at least a pale colour. My wall is a dark blue so the reflected white light tends to take on a slightly blue tinge. For the price this is pretty impressive bit of kit and well worth the money

Amazing and worth buying
Love this product so much! Helps with eye strain and takes move nights and parties to the next level. Can have lights to work with the music or just follow the colours on screen. Easy to install the lights but I did have an issue to sync and pair it to my phone but this was because my internet was a duel band and set to 5mhz where this needs to be paired via a 2.4mhz band. Tech support were really helpful and this was not the product issue but me not readying the description properly. Can’t wait to build onto the tv lights with other products from their range.

Stopped responding multiple times, leading to having to remove and readd to my home app. Poor quality overall. Sent it back which is a shame because when it did work it was great, but getting it working properly was a massive issue

Such a nice ambience to my screen, shows and games, i reccomend this product if you have other nanoleaf devices around the room, it enhanced my experience further since i got nanoleaf lines!

Honestly it’s always bugging and disconnecting. And after few months it completely stopped responding to the app. I’m ordering a new one from another brand right now
