Branch"Y" Underground SWA Armoured Cable Joint KIT 1.5-6mm 2, 3 & 4 Core Cable. 802020

This kit provides a good, safe option for underground SWA cable connections. The resin sets solid, ensuring a robust and durable joint. Installation can be slightly tricky, as the case may require some adjustment to properly fit the cable.

At the start of October 2017 I purchased this item to join 3 x 3 core SWA cables together in a weatherproof seal. I had previously used a straight joint system from elsewhere with no problems. The expectation was that this item would be the same, just with an additional joint. However, there appeared to be no core separators when I checked the contents. I contacted the company and had great difficulty getting them to understand what part was missing. They very kindly offered to send a complete kit but I just wanted the plastic separators, so declined their offer and persisted with trying to identify the missing parts to them. Eventually they realised that the parts I was describing are not actually included in branch kits, only in straight kits! The item doesn’t come with a parts list, only a generic instruction leaflet that covers both types of joint. The single picture on the Amazon site doesn’t give much away either, so very difficult to see what you should actually get. When I eventually used the item, I found it very ‘fiddly’ trying to get all 3 cables to sit right and keep all the cores apart from each other, so I made my own separators to help. Product works okay and the company was helpful BUT I did suggest more information/pictures on the Amazon site would help and the product is fiddly to use while trying to join everything together and hold it all in place. You will also need a hacksaw to cut the entry/exit points to suit the diameter of the cable(s) being used.

Not used anything similar before. On this unit when you tighten the cable clips the nut spins as the method closes the split bolt which creates a smaller dia and the nut cannot tighten properly. Fortunately I was only using 3 core so had a spare unit to experiment with. Not quite enough resin to fully fill the enclosure.
