It works to light candles. Candles are lighting quicker and easier when I have the candle close to me and the lighter, rather than arm's length when lighting and it seems more effective to have the arc near the top of the wick to reduce the wax flowing to the electrodes. I am needing to scrape off wax after use but it's been working well for a few weeks since arrival. The colour I recieved is more of a deep metallic cerise than the purple in the pictures on my screen but maybe that's my screen at fault?

I really like this lighter. It does its job well and being able to charge it is much easier than having to refill a gas lighter. I like the safety lock on the switch so my kids can’t accidentally use it. The end can get a bit clogged with wax but it’s easy enough to clean. It takes a bit longer to light a candle than a gas/flame lighter but not so much that it’s annoying.
