Good replacement
I thrifted a Dell Optiplex 390, made in 2011, that was missing its hard drive, and also this plastic piece that holds the hard drive. This item fit just fine. Getting the HDD screwed into it was kind of a pain in the neck, but that's probably on the original design.

Well Built, but Slightly Too Thick for OptiPlex 780 Tool-Less Slots
These drive trays are solidly built and feel durable, with a clean fit for mounting a 2.5” SSD using the side pin system. Installing the SSD into the tray was easy, and once mounted, everything is held securely with no movement or rattle. However, in my Dell OptiPlex 780 tower, the tray itself is just slightly too thick—by roughly a millimeter—to slide into the factory tool-less drive bay slots. Because of that, it doesn’t seat properly in this specific system without modification. That said, the tray itself does exactly what it’s designed to do. The build quality is good, the SSD sits firmly in place, and it delivers the quiet operation and responsiveness you’d expect from an SSD upgrade. In a system with standard or screw-mounted 3.5” bays, these should work well. Overall, this is a well-made drive caddy, but OptiPlex 780 owners should be aware of the tight fit before ordering.

Fits well after minor tweaking
Good replacement for the original Dell drive caddy for my old Dell Precision 380. The original drive caddy's rails were 6 mm wide and the replacement drive caddy's rails were 6.79 mm wide. Fortunately, there is room to spare in the drive bay for the increases rail width. However, the first section (the nose) of the rail was 7.55 mm on each side making it darn near impossible to insert a loaded drive caddy into the drive bay. Fortunately, the rails are plastic and few swipes with a flat file on the nose ends quickly reduced the width to the same size of the rest of the rails. After the simple modification, the loaded drive caddy slid right into the drive bay locking in place just like the original. The only other issue I had was with the built in drive screwless mounting pins. They were a tight fit barely permiting the drive to be loaded. But again, one could use a round file to increase the slot length where the rubber screwless pins were mounted to increase the separation a tad if need be. For the price, this is a suitable replacement as long as you don't mind doing some minor tweaking if need be. I would definitely buy again if I needed these in the future.

Not a scam
Bought one and compared to the numerous dell caddies I have and it is identical except color differs slightly and isn't brittle from age. The 1 star review claiming this is a scam probably tried to install it upside down. They only go in 1 way, the drive will be upside down when installed. Drives installed as they should and it slid right in to numerous models of optiplex computers without issue. Very happy with it.

Bought this to put an additional HDD into my Dell XPS 8950 Desktop. It fits perfectly, even though the description did not mention that it is compatible with the XPS. It's unfortunate that Dell doesn't carry parts like this for its own computer. You will need to purchase an angled SATA cable to connect the HDD, though. The regular straight SATA cable will not allow you to close the desktop's chassis cover. (I bought the left-angle one from startech.)

Perfect fit into my Dell optiplex and I was able to place my 3.5 12tb hard drive into it. Absolute success on a fresh computer build and using this product.
