great for the old timers 1
This converter is great., I have 8mm cameras, and VHS cameras that I love to use. It is a life safer because I did not want to get rid of my older equipment. I have a backup one also. Great deal and seller.

Works fine on Win 7
I bought it a year ago, but didn't had time to convert my old V8 Sony tapes. Finally I got to it. I am on second tape now. Not bad at all. I think for such a cheap product it is outperformed its price :-). Now I don't have to worry and will have our memories safe on my PC.

Beware mini-CD
I have 4 laptops and 1 desktop. None of them are compatible with mini CD's. So... I can't access the software that comes with it. In the product description it says "CD" not mini-CD. Can't say how the hardware works.

Windows 8, Doesn't work - Bad USB cable
I thought this would be a good solution, but it didn't work. I have Windows 8, most things work with that, but not this thing. First, the little USB cable they provide is garbage. It keep disconnecting and connecting. When I direct plugged the unit into the PC, then it stopped doing that. With the software up and running and a feed coming from my video camera, all I got was a loud audio buzz and a distorted picture that look like the old TV's when they were off channel. I fiddled with all the video settings, and I installed various drivers recommended online by scores of people that had problems. I decided that I wanted to spend my time capturing video, not troubleshooting and fixing cheap outdated junk that seems cheap, but is not , when you factor your time. It's going back.

Works great.
Worked great. Transferred about (18) two hour tapes to mpg files.

Does not work as listed
Software did not function with the vcr player I am using. The vcr works and I reviewed all instructions, help files, and the Honesttech website. No customer service assistance listed anywhere either.

Counterfeit grabber. Seller is a liar.
Says the product is "genuine" but this is a lie. Says it has UTV007 chip but it does not. This is a fake product.

NOT Genuine
Products says it is genuine easycap with the UTV007 chipset and it most definitely is NOT. This is useless.
