These sponges are smaller than average and have limited scrubbing ability.

Works like a regular, durable sponge even with a slimmer profile. Great packaging.

This sponge is “green” as it is made from the cellulose (of course, they prefer not to talk about how much energy and resources are used to produce the cellulose).And that’s true - it magically expands when becomes wet. After that it behaves the same as a regular, “non-green” sponge.It goes a little less smoothly on metallic surfaces, e.g. steel knives and forks, but that’s my humble perception and other people may not experience that.Overall this is a good product, but I gave it one star less as I prefer the sponge have one side rough. This one has both sides smooth.

I prefer to use cellulose sponges over the plasticky types because I am hoping they will be slightly better for the planet. One plus point is that they also come very highly compressed when they are dry (like those novelty towelettes that expand when you add water) so presumably they take up less space in shipping and therefore also have a lower impact in terms of carbon emissions. They also take up less space in storage which is nice. One downside to most cellulose sponges is that they are very soft so while they are great for delicate china and silverware, they won't get baked on bits off of pots and pans easily. I do use Barkeeper's Friend for those kinds of stains though so mostly these sponges serve my purposes.

Good value. Kitchen sponges need to be changed regularly to avoid germ build up. These are affordable and you can throw them away guilt free knowing they are biodegradable. Certainly handy for packing for travel or camping as they are only as thick as a credit card out of the package.However, they do not seem to release dish soap suds easily and have less abrasive force than synthetic sponges for scrubbing cooked on dirt. On the other hand, the lack of abrasion is desirable for the longevity of your Teflon coated cookware.
