An absolute must buy for the price!
They showed up much quicker than expected! Nice and heavy 5/8 inch tool holders/ cutters. I put all three on the lathe to check them out and they did a great job. Less pressure needed so less heat created. The finish is as good as any other Cutter I have in my collection including way more expensive brands. I didnt have high hopes but... I was wrong. ( Note: I have only cut aluminum 1 1/2 round bar with them so far just to compare them to my others.)

stays sharp pretty long
handles an interrupted cut pretty well. pro home hobby this is for you. I have run each for hours and never changed an insert. This is the biggest tool you will get into an axa xl tool holder. the inserts in them are for finishing, they are great for that. If you want to hog off a lot of material you need different inserts. The rigidity of the holder should handle a much deeper depth of cut with a roughing insert. I could get a good finish to about 80 thou depth. at a tenth the chips fail to break and the finish suffers. I took 125 without breaking the cutter but made the machine work harder than it should have for that depth. results were similar for all 3 insert types. I always favor wnmg.

GO 4 IT!
Don't let the low price stop you, this tooling took my hobby lathe skills to the next level! I am amazed how good the finish surface is.

Ok overall but one insert toe clamp doesn't work due to sloppy threads.
Overall very happy with the quality and product. One tool holder toe clamp does NOT retain the insert as it should. See video. This is something I can rectify, but it should be returned for one without excess clearance in the screw, clamp, AND body together. For $50 you can't go wrong. I'll try the inserts that came with the holders for giggles, but I have ISCAR inserts waiting to be put on. I don't think anyone out there buys THESE holders because of the insert quality. But for what I spent I still got 3 VERY heavy (weight wise) products. They seem to be made of a "heavy metal" although they feel like carbide judging by the weight. I'm sure they are not carbide though. I would still buy them again. Great deal overall. Only downside is if you ARENT knowledgeable about inserts, toe clamp screws, or insert seats...you will have a hell of a time finding replacement items as they do NOT specify. Most holders have all the information laser etched on the holder so you never have to worry about it.

no problems
I got this several years ago. I've used it many times. No issues with it. Holds the inserts firmly Nothing breaks, nothing moves. Everything I can ask for from an insert holder. Good value.

Not necessarly for a bench lathe, but will work.
I wanted these for a long time and decided to get them. I new I had to mill the bottom off from a 5/8" to a 1/2" to fit the tool holder. Of-course you know, you have to remove the bottom so you can adjust the height level to be on-center with your work. nice tool. Thanks. BTW, It looks intimidating to "normal" tools you use because of the size of it. It's meant for CNC use.
