If you or someone you care for has weak hands that find opening jars difficult at times, buy this opener from Hongaouu or some other vendor on Amazon selling virtually identical openers. The recipient will thank you repeatedly.Here is what we like about the jar opener:1. It is battery-operated and the technology inside this "George Jetson" opener does all the work.2. You simply place the opener on top of the lid of the jar you want to open, press down on the single green button for 5 seconds or so, and you are done. You can hold on to the opener or take your hand away, because the unit works on its own.3. The process of opening the jar is simple and elegant at the same time. One set of arms tightens around the lid while another set of arms tightens around the body of the jar. Once both arms are tightly holding the lid and the jar body, the lid arms generate a twisting pressure and, in a few seconds, the lid arms open the lid. You literally hear that "popping" sound you have when you have finally twisted off that stubborn lid from the jar. Only, in this case, you watched as the jar did it without you having to lift a finger, except for when you pressed the green button.We tested this opener on both a medium size pasta jar and a bigger pickle jar. Once you press the button and the opener starts its internal gears moving to engage the two sets of arms, it takes about 20-25 seconds for the opener to do its magic and twist open the jar lid. The media could not be loaded. At my age, I do have a hard time opening some jars. Usually it takes a towel and a few choice swear words to get the jar of salsa or olives open. I did not know that these automatic jar openers actually existed, but I am sure happy that they do!All I do is place the opener on top of the jar and press the button until the opener clamps down on the jar and the inner jaws turn to pop open the lid. This particular jar of hatch chili salsa has been in the cupboard for a couple weeks since I was not able to open it, even with a towel and my best swear words. I thought it was a lost cause and I would have to use a sharp knife to poke a hole in the lid to open it.I took a video of the jar opener working and when the lid popped off, I was quite surprised that it worked. The pop was so loud that I jumped a little bit. That just shows how tight the seal on this jar was. I am truly happy that I have this jar opener so I don't have to have any more lids with knife holes in my fridge.
