I empathize with everyone else who has tried 'every type of litter.' I have. Clay is a heavy smelly dusty dirty misery. The crystals were dusty and tracked like crazy, and so did all the 'natural' corn/walnut shell/et al products. Pellets are a huge improvement - but the wood pellets I tried disintegrated so readily that dust built up in the box within a couple days. Zeolite pellets were great - but you need the specialized box and pads - which weren't bad, BUT, a strong ammonia odor becomes prevalent after a couple weeks. SO at my son's suggestion I tried tofu pellets. I've sampled four brands, and they all performed about the same - dust is MINIMAL, tracking MINIMAL, odor MINIMAL (I have not used a scented variety), CLUMPING is great due to the starches added to these products - please note that the starches will cause the clump to stick to the box till the clump has a chance to dry a bit, after which the clump will pop off. But every clump diminishes the amount of litter left in the box, so be ready to replenish regularly! Tofu litter IS Expensive!!! I had to adjust my budget. But I am happy with the overall performance. Maybe it costs the companies a lot to source, produce & market. Anyway, this litter is a medium grey due to charcoal added for odor control so it does not look as 'pretty' as the whitish brands - but the charcoal is a good functional addition so I accepted the color.

I have always considered that I bought high-quality litter for my kitty - as much for me as for her. A brand that I had been using for several years, and was quite happy with, changed their formula about a year ago and it got very dusty and tracking. What a mess it created in our home! I bought an air-purifier for the room the litter box was in, I dusted and vacuumed more often, it was still a mess. I tried another quality litter, and it basically did the same thing. I was giving up hope I could find something that I was actually happy with. I recently adopted a new kitten (RIP Abby) and this litter was recommended by the Humane Society where I adopted the kitten. It sounded good, but I was hesitant to believe the "hype." Could it really be that good? Well, new kitten and I have been using this litter for 4 weeks now and I must say it is AMAZING. It is VERY LOW tracking (and super easy to clean up the few pellets that get out 1 to 2 feet), VERY LOW dust, and clumps GREAT. It is WAY better than the quality clay litter we were using. The new kitten and I are VERY happy with it. I just reordered 3 more bags. I am going to try lavender this time. I have not been flushing it but should probably try that next. We have a good-sized potty box (but not huge), and by 3 weeks, the litter was quite shallow. It probably lasts more like 3 weeks with a larger pottybox. HOWEVER, I just scrubbed out the pottybox today, and kept the remaining litter from last month and am reusing it - new bag added to it in clean pottybox. Remaining litter does not seem to smell (thanks to great clumping.) I will toss everything left in another 4 weeks. With this strategy, I hope to comfortably get 8 weeks out of 2 bags. (One cat.) Thank you Tuft&Paw!

Over the years we've tried them all, to include many expensive automatic box contraptions and pee pad drainage systems, but this litter in a plain ol' litter box is by far the best solution. My husband saw an ad on Facebook to try it out for free, and given our recent litter box frustrations, we thought - "Hmmm tofu? Sure, why not." - Our three cats took to it right away. We were also pleasantly surprised to see [and smell] that they all now bury their poo. So, I guess they quite enjoy doing their business in this litter as well. Selfishly though - it's great at: smell control to a point of almost nothingness, keeping the tracking down to nearly nonexistent, and clumping; making 1&2 waste disposal extremely easy. Our latest litter saga was with the purple-labelled pine pellet clumping kind. It was good, even though frustrating at times and a big time suck looking back, but given our time in testing litters over the years, we believed we had settled on the best one our money could buy. Then we tried Tuft+Paw, and discovered we were absolutely incorrect. Unlike clumping pine pellets, Tuft+Paw absorbs the urine immediately to form a clumped ball instead of disintegrating into a fine wet dust that takes time to harden. If the pine has a chance to harden, it's fine, no harm, no foul. But, this became a huge problem after we adopted our third cat. Even with multiple boxes they would still choose to share and would kick up each others messes before this drying process could happen. Tracking became a problem, smell became a problem, and contaminated unused litter pellets became a problem. To keep our wallets from hemorrhaging, we ended up having to sift the dust from the "clumping" litter every few days just to keep these problems at bay. We almost switched back to the regular farm bedding kind because we were basically dealing with the same issues that litter presents, but paying three times as much. But, thankfully, this litter came into our lives to save the day. Since switching, all of these problems seemingly vanished overnight. It now takes us no more than 3 mins per box each day to keep them tidy. Unlike clumping pine, one bag of Tuft+Paw lasts awhile because the unused pellets are not contaminated, so one just needs to replenish the pellets and do full box change when it starts to get a stinky [which after 15 days hasn't happened yet, and at this rate even with 3 cats, will probably exceed a month]. In this and on top of the aforementioned features and benefits of this litter, the price tag absolutely makes sense. We also signed up for the subscription service on their website, which knocks the price down quite a bit as well. If you are thinking about trying it because you like a clean house, and value your time, the health of your pets, and the environment, do it! I really can't recommend this litter enough!

I switched to this litter just about a week ago. The bag says one bag should last 40 days (assuming one cat, I'm sure). So, one bag should in theory last 20 days with my 2 cats. This is the main issue I can see: there is no way one bag is lasting us 20 days. The clumping is great. There is an odor when you clean the litter.......but it goes away pretty fast once you clean it out. I scoop once a day. I did smell the ammonia smell when I was scooping, but the smell doesn't linger or travel outside the room where I have the litter. Tracking- it does track around the litter box, but not beyond the laundry room where my litter is. One downside for me is that the pellets that track are too heavy for my Dyson stick vacuum to pick up (My Miele plug in vacuum has no issue). So I just use a broom daily to sweep them toward the litter and do a more thorough cleaning once a week. For now, I will stick with this litter and see how much I actually end up using over time. My guess at this point is that, with two cats, two bags might get me through one month. I am really not sure how one bag could last 40 days with one cat....hence my rating of 4 stars.

I’ve had so many high expectations for this litter, and unfortunately it did not meet what I was expecting. I loved how easy it was to clean. Clumping was wonderful! Tracking was very low! I’d find very few pellets. My cat needed time to adjust to the pellet sizes, but he did alright overall. The biggest downside for me was how order control was not the best. It smells strongly once urine makes contact with the litter. It doesn’t do well to cover poop smell either. Unfortunately it was very unpleasant to go through because I got this litter for how dust is kept to a minimum. I have allergy problems and it went away with this litter which was great, but I couldn’t work around with the smell. This will be my first and last time purchasing due to the price. It did in fact last up to the 2 months it promises, and I have only one cat. Mine does pee a lot however so we barely made it to the 2 month mark.
