Over the years, I have purchased dozens of thumb drives, micro SD cards, and other small storage devices. These have covered the range of brand names to non-brand names and offering storage from 2gb to 2tb. As is often the case, the advertised specs often do match real life performance. This thumb drive is different. I regularly transfer multiple large files between desktops, cell phones, tablets, and such and so I have a good idea of which of my options is akin to watching paint dry and which could be called amazing blazing. This SSK 2tb drive is one of the latter variety. Having compared it to Kingston, Sandisk, Samsung, and perhaps others, it is the best thumb drive that I have found. The bonus is that it offers 2tb of space giving me overhead to avoid immediately deleting files that I may need to carry to other projects. As a bonus, it is manufactured out of sturdy metal that feels costly as opposed to common plastic or composite material. Finally, as others have mentioned, the access to having a standard USB on one side and a C connector on the other side means that I have near universal compatibility between my devices. I love this thumb drive and believe that you may find the same benefits that I have enjoyed.

Frankly, it's the best USB SSD plug-in I've ever had. Most are crap! The capacity saved me on more than one occasion. The solid construction and dual USB connections are fantastic! I'm writing this review after having the unit for over a year because it came to my rescue once more as I needed to copy a large video between iPhone, Mac, and PC. It worked like a charm!

I transferred about 1.2 TB of data. Transferring using the USB-C was NOT very fast (like 10-20 MB/s) and at one point it locked-up during the transfer. I was ready to return it. But this thing was so nice and so well made, being metal- I thought I would give it another chance. I re-formatted the drive to exFAT again, and tried the whole thing over using the USB-A 3.2 plug instead. This went much better averaging about 110MB/s. It also did not lock up during the transfer. The only downside is that these large transfers get the drive incredibly hot- I measured 132F (55.6 C). It's actually a good thing it's metal so that the heat can radiate out. For smaller transfers it doesn't get nearly that hot. Not sure why the USB-C was an issue, I didn't worry much about it (and didn't test it again) since the device I will be using this with primarily only has a USB-A 3.0.

Amazing little USB/USB-c memory stick! Heavy, well built, durable drive. Absolutely plenty of space for just about anything. Mated with my MacBook Pro with no effort. Great buy! Very happy with it.

Updated review: a few minutes after i posted my review, i plugged in my SSK to see if I could access it from the computer. It did not. I lost everything on there. After using a different product, i notice how poor of an experience the SSK was. It would get so hot and malfunction, would constantly disconnect, and hard to multitask. It was not as efficient as I expected, and in the end cant even be read to save all the files on there. Luckily i have a backup of most of the stuff on another hard drive ssd, but this is NOT a reliable product. I wish i could get a refund. Previous review: Okay honest review here- it started out great. It would get hot as expected, very hot. Didn’t bother me, transferring files was relatively easy and straight forward on iPhone 16 pro max. Just open the Files app to view, and can manually transfer photos and videos. What i didnt expect: how long it took to transfer. And it would start tweaking and fail if i transferred more than 600~ files (photos/videos) or large files (long videos). I would leave my phone open and transferring for hours & sometimes it would only transfer partial amount, and then i dont know which ones failed. After about a month, my phone had trouble reading the drive. It would flash on and off and sometimes disappear in the middle of transferring. Sometimes if i just held it still and in one place it would work. It has been several months and it completely wont read on my iphone anymore. My friend was able to transfer files (long and large videos) from his macbook to my drive, but my phone fails to read it at all. In fact, it even somehow managed to spark an error in my usbc port on my phone, where my phone said there was liquid detected and i couldnt charge my phone for several days, every time i plugged in the SSK drive and chargers it would set off the “emergency liquid detected” alarm. Now i am hesitant to use the drive in my phone, but its important for my work as a content creator. Unfortunately i cannot access my content by plugging it into my phone anymore, but it seems fine on the computer. The whole point was to transfer between my iphone and my laptop and keep things on here as storage so i have space on my phone to create more content. But i can no longer access them or transfer from phone. So it started out great and i can at least access through computer (for now). But i would recommend finding a product thats more reliable. Although it was easy and convenient while it worked.

Fast. Large storage. I used for family photos. It held them all from 1960's through 2026!
