desertcart.com: SPIDER-GWEN VOL. 4: PREDATORS: 9781302905965: Latour, Jason, Andru, Ross, Rodriguez, Robbi: Books Review: An exciting read and a real page-turner, this comic shows Gwen possibly getting her powers back while fighting to save Harry. - This comic book covers issues #19-23. Where we left off Captain George Stacy was in jail for protecting Spider-Gwen and Gwen had made a deal with Matt Murdock, the Kingpin, to get boosters that would enable her to have her powers for short periods of time and he would work on getting her dad out of prison. For a price. She would have to work for him. Gwen also injected Harry with the suppressant for the Lizard mutagen in the hopes that it would cure him. Murdock is pissed at Stacy because he is right where he wants to be--stoking the flames of the press in the hopes of creating a forum for him to clear Spider-Gwen's name because he knows they have nothing on him. He can't control Stacy and Stacy isn't playing according to his script. But Murdock still has Gwen. He has Gwen meet him at Oscorp where Murdock and a scientist of his explain that the isotopes she uses as her powerups can be used to cure Harry of his Lizardness and then turned into a symbiote that could be injected into her and return her powers to her. Murdock sends Spider-Gwen out to Madripoor where Harry is with the Hand ninjas as back up but doesn't tell her that S.H.I.E.L.D. has sent people to bring Harry back dead or alive so they can dissect him. Neither Harry nor Spider-Gwen trusts Murdock but his plan could fix both of their problems. Pretty soon, though, Harry might not have a voice as the Lizard takes over his body. What should Spider-Gwen do? Also included is a comic on the Mary Janes. This is a really great comic and shows that Gwen truly does want to be Spider-Gwen and what she is ready to do to be her. I highly recommend this book. Review: I agree with Uatu, but the last issue saved this volume - The story got dark. Like Madripoor dark. Seedy and violent and full of ninjas. Logan and Ninja Kitty show up. There Gwen's dad in prison and prison stuff happens. It's like an HBO series, with no boobies. But then MJ, Glory and Betty save the day. I would honestly read 100 comics like the final issue in this volume, and love every one.

and cool story to life
As always Spider-Gwen delivers a story that keeps you wanting more. With art that compels and brings the stylish, and cool story to life. My only complaint is that it is a bit short with some filler albeit fun, it is ultimately inconsequential.

Gwen Back in Fine Form
After having been in league with Matt Murdoch, the kingpin of crime of her universe, things finally come to a head for Gwen Stacy and she and her friend Harry Osborne find themselves hunted by all sides including SHIELD and the Hand. After a lackluster second volume, and a dull and stagnant third volume, this book really does start to move along at a good pace again with a lot of twists and developments. The big problem is that essentially, we're brought the first four issues of the story arc and then things come into a hault, effectively to be continued in the next book. The fifth isssue is a Gwen-less issue focusing on this universe's Mary Jane (and to a lesser extent the bad). It's a good character piece and we get an introduction to a different take on the watchers. It's a charming one-shot, but ill-placed as it interrupts a story. Overall, this is the best Spider-Gwen in several volumes and i lef interested in what happens next.
