Try it as a culinary herb!
I first learned about stevia when my local organic grower offered it in his line of herb seedlings. I bought one plant to try in my herb garden and when it got big enough to start harvesting from, I started trying it in different dishes. I loved it. Summer is over, the frosts have come, and the plant is long used up but I got so addicted to it that I went looking for dried stevia to get me through the winter. This 1-lb bag of powdered stevia from Frontier was the best I could find. It's works well as a substitute for the fresh leaves -- as long as you use it sparingly. I use fresh or dried stevia wherever I use basil, such as pasta and couscous dishes with vegetables or mushrooms -- use both basil and stevia. Stevia complements lemon juice very well when that's one of the ingredients. For a quick sauce, I mix the dried stevia with a bit of olive oil and drizzle it on pasta or cheese ravioli. Yum! I mix the dried stevia with a bit of water in the bottom of a casserole dish, add peeled and chopped sweet potatoes, stir, and bake (spoon the juice over the potatoes a few times while they're baking). I even use the dried stevia in oatmeal (*real* oatmeal, which is rolled or steel cut oats, soaked in water, and cooked, not that awful powdery stuff that comes in a packet, contains xanthin gum, and has the consistency of glue once cooked). Just remember that a little stevia goes a long way. It has a very intense flavor. Start with a 1/4 teaspoon and work your way up to the taste you like. I would NOT recommend this as a "sugar substitute" for baking. It's not going to dissolve and blend like granulated sugar.

First time, LAST TIME! Not for me! !!
I was doing research and read this would be the best alternative to sugar. I have diabetes and needed an alternative to man made calorie free sugar. This is natural, unprocessed, no calorie and 300 times sweeter than sugar! What can go wrong?!? I see people are giving this a positive light but lets be honest. I had never tried it before and this was the first time ever ordering. YUCK!! This will take a MAJOR life adjustment. To me, it tasted bitter, smelled like fresh cut grass and no amount of it made the tea any better. I was hoping that I could get use to this and make a change. However, every time I smelled it afterwards made me gag. This was not for me. It was grainy and did not fully disolve since it is a plant after all. I figured I would stick to plain water and just use agave nectar for sweetening. I would much rather cut out sugar altogether than to keep using this. Sorry but this was not for me. I had to throw it away. Lesson Learned.

Some bad, overall very good
Waited a week before posting this. BAD NEWS: No, this is not just a natural sweetener with no taste other than sweet, to mimic sugar. It's minimally processed, so it retains some of its plant flavor. And some of it tends to settle to the bottom of the beverage container. GOOD NEWS: The taste is OK. The wife and I actually like the taste. An acquired taste, but definitely sweet. And this is as natural a sweetener as you can possibly find. It has a bit of a licorice taste to it. And it sweetens beverages perfectly well. OVERALL: We'll definitely buy again. Other forms of stevia are incredibly processed, to the point where we're not sure of the benefit. This form we have confidence in.

Mother Nature's Sugar-Free Sweetener...
I should warn you- This is a lot to read. This product does exactly as it's supposed to, with NO CHEMICALS. a "pinch", in your fingertips, is equivalent to a teaspoon of white sugar. I use it for ICED TEA. Unlike other "STEVIA PRODUCTS", where chemicals have been used to bleach-out the naturally occurring green color, and the naturally occurring aftertaste, THIS PRODUCT IS THE REAL DEAL. For those of you concerned about your health... Those "White" Stevia products AND "Stevia Drops" are probably more toxic than aspartame, due to the horrendous process they're put through, in order to remove any aftertaste AND to make them "appear" more appealing. The ONLY downside is: Aftertaste The aftertaste takes a bit of getting used-to... If one uses TOO MUCH, it will taste like black licorice... just remember- It's sweeter than sugar, so smaller quantities DO suffice. NOTE: It's easier to add more stevia (if needed) than to remove it (once you've already put it into your food or drink). This is a good product for those wishing to take care of their health.

You do have to get used to the taste and the amount you use but for unrefined Stevia it works well in my cooking

Not sweet enough and the green powder did not mix well.
