Impressive performance
I have this set up with a 4TB KC3000 and tested with an M1 Macbook Pro. It is very fast - easily hitting around 1GB/s write on a mixed set of files and the device reports a 10Gbps connection using the supplied cable. It's a short cable (15cm?) which is fine for travel but you might want a longer one. I've not extensively tested read performance, but it seems at least as fast as other external NVMe drive enclosures I own.The display is useful to see what's going on, though I've not found a way to turn it off, which might be nice if you're using it at night. At least it's much better than the ridiculous RGB lights on Asus's Strix Arion. There is no manual that I could find which is a bit odd, because everything is controlled with one button. Double click rotates the display, long click cycles through settings. Be warned if you end up on the firmware upgrade screen by mistake, the disk will still work but you won't be able to use the display until you reboot the drive. The heatsinking looks OK, the fit with a 4TB drive feels quite loose unlike other drives which have a more snug feeling when being clamped down, so it's not clear how good the contact is with the memory chips. I did make the mistake of peeling a corner of the top layer off even though there's a note on the drive saying not to (it's a very glossy thermal pad). I would consider getting another pad to shim underneath the drive for dual sided PCBs, and possibly checking back in a week to see if the pad is making contact. Drive temperature at around 20C ambient with the driving sitting on a desk got up to around 55-60C while running a backup. The top surface is essentially an insulator (it's a big sheet of plastic with an air gap), so be careful how you orient it in use. It's best to either put it display down, or sideways so the heat can escape. It's a nice size. Not enormous, and probably a little thicker than it needs to be due to the screen. The exposed circuitry is a nice look and the front case seems to be plexiglass or acrylic rather than glass, so I wouldn't worry too much about shatter. It's not particularly heavy, so unless you drop it on a hard metal surface from a height I doubt it would crack. You don't get the free rubber bumper from Amazon though, which is a shame. Another potential downside is that it's likely not waterproof.Power protection works if you unplug the drive, but I've yet to use it in anger. I've had issues with other drives in the past and I hope that the supercap can be used to buffer the power from the hub if it struggles during a bursty operation. If not, you can also use a second USB-C cable to provide auxiliary power which is something I've not seen in any other drives. NVMe drives are really hungry and this is great to have. It's probably the most expensive enclosure you can get, but as SSD prices are plummeting it's not a bad investment and the features are good. The power delivery features are worth it alone for me and it's a good tool to diagnose disks.

Great enclosure!
The Dockcase Explorer Smart SSD Enclosure packs few useful features that make the extra cost justifiable. With an aluminium alloy outer shell and gorilla glass - its pretty tough too! Installing the SSD is nice and simple with the removal of a single screw - with spare screws and the driver included in the package. The enclosure has a small display that shows the health status, model and size of your SSD, current live read/write transfer speeds or even the SSD temperature and voltage in graphical form! There's a lot more detailed SMART information available too by cycling through the menu screens using the single button on the device.Compatible with SSD drives up to 4TB in capacity, I've tested with a 1TB Samsung 980 Pro and achieved average read/write speeds of around 920MB/s using the included USB-C to USB-C cable, which are speeds that I would expect for a 10Gb/s interface. In summary then, as for the overall design, the Dockcase enclosure is a flashy but manageable device. It stands out with its glass casing, accompanying screen, futuristic detailing, good performance, and it’s small size, all while being convenient enough to fit in your pocket. On the other hand however, there are plenty of other portable M.2 SSD enclosures available, which are not only good performers, but much more affordable, although saying that, they don’t offer the same protection as the DockCase enclosure. They’re also not as sleek. So if protecting your data is an extra priority, it might be worth it to spend a little bit more on the DockCase Explorer Edition smart SSD enclosure. It certainly gets my vote!

Awesome answer to ASU’s Rog Ally’s storage issue.
This new product from Dock Case could well be one of the best answers if not the best answer to the new Asus Rog Ally’s storage problem. Yes, that’s right, if you are one of the unlucky people that had the SD card issue but don’t want to open your Ally to fit a larger internal drive, this case will allow you to fit a SSD up to 4 GB to store your games, run your game at super fast speeds, thanks to being USBC data transfer rates are lightning fast, fast enough to keep up with higher end SSD read write speeds. Speeds can reach up to 10GBps!! Supports NVMe and SATA drives. The other cool thing with this is that you get a display which tells you read write speeds and drive health in real time, this allows you to back up your drive and not loose you data if the SSD drive starts getting bad. Not only does it have this screen it also has up to 10S power UPS to protect the drive and data from corruption etc if connection is lost or power lost while writing to the disk. There is a second USBC socket for power, unfortunately this doesn’t allow charging of the device that the Dock is connected to but it does run the drive keeping the Rog Ally, IPad or any other portable devices internal power soley for the device that the Doc Case is connected to, instead of drawing power from the devices internal battery. I for one love this little Dock Case, so get on it, for those of you thinking it’s to complicated to fit a SSD into the Dock Case, it’s easy, very easy, the tool is provided with the Dock Case and takes less than a couple minutes to fit, connect to your pc, initialise in Disk Management (Windows tool provided by Microsoft) and Boomb, format and start using. Video coming soon on YouTube, Vortex RCUK.

Veramente ben fatto
The media could not be loaded.

Consigliato!
