A Must Have for Any Metal Gear Fan!
These games hold a very special place for me. I actually had the privilege of interviewing David Hayter, the voice of Snake, years ago and he was an incredible person. Coming back to these classics through the Master Collection on PS5 brought all of that nostalgia rushing back. The collection does a great job of preserving what made these games so legendary. The storytelling, the gameplay, the atmosphere, there is truly nothing else like Metal Gear Solid. Playing through them again reminded me why this series left such a lasting impression on so many people. Having all of it packaged together on PS5 is a convenient and easy way to experience or revisit one of gaming's greatest franchises. Whether you played these back in the day or are discovering them for the first time, the depth and creativity Hideo Kojima brought to these games still holds up. If you grew up with Metal Gear or just appreciate gaming history, this collection is absolutely worth it. Highly recommend!

The best console version available for these games
Konami has continually updated this collection of Metal Gear Solid games over the last year that it has been available. It was released in a disappointing state, the biggest offender was the Nintendo Switch version which I would have bought instead but all 3 games are limited to 30fps which is hard to accept when the PS2 and PS3 both ran these titles (MGS2 + MGS3) at 50-60fps. The reason why is they used Unity engine as a shell that houses the emulators running these games and the Nintendo Switch just doesn’t have the single threaded performance to run the games at 60fps. If these were native ports, it would have worked. This is why I opted for the PS5 version instead and only the first game runs at 30fps and this is because of the game’s tick rate being tied to the frame rate. The game would speed up like you were watching it at 2x speed. But MGS 2 and 2 run at a locked 60fps. If you grew up playing these masterpieces like I did, you know how influential and impressive they were back in the early 2000s. Hideo Kojima really is one of the most brilliant game developers and directors in the industry. Konami are really not smart from a business perspective to have parted ways with him. It’s sad because I would like for there to be more games in this franchise and I really don’t see how it would be possible without him. They tried it a few years ago with Metal Gear Survive and it was a critical and financial disappointment, this is because it was a multiplayer game with micro transactions and didn’t have a decent story. This collection is now to the point of being superior to the Bluepoint HD collection (of which The Master Collection is based on), thanks to numerous bugs and glitches that were never fixed in the 2013 release that Konami has repaired and improved over the last year. We will soon get update version 2.0 which brings some more big changes. The PC/Steam version of MGSMC has already received the patch in September and it’s been confirmed that PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch will all get it in the near future. Whenever it arrives, I will update my review because I want to list all of the changes as this update will be the biggest one thus far. Update- version 2.0 did drop for Xbox and PlayStation and we now get native 4k versions of MGS 2 and 3 at 60fps. Switch is of course left behind as it seems to lack the required performance necessary to run these games at 60fps (at least because of the way the ported these games using emulation inside of a Unity Engine container). The Switch could technically do it, as it’s similar in performance to Xbox 360 and PS3 but it must not be worth it for the devs to give us the option. At least 2 out of the 3 platforms are now in a respectable state.

These classics hold up very well
This is the first 3 Metal Gear Solid games, remastered for modern consoles. The presentation for all three is great, with extras like scripts and whole character bios. Now, the first MGS is locked at 30 fps and is a bit rough in the graphics department. It is still a A+ stealth game. The second and third games both got a better overhaul, although admittedly they are both great looking games anyways. I mean, MGS 2: SoL has ice cubes that melt in real time, and this was something that was in the ps2 version! With that said, some idiosyncrasies and control issues carried over from the HD remakes that were put out for the ps3. This game is pretty much just a rezzed up version of that game, I myself don't mind that but others may. I actually waited until this was on sale before buying it, as that is the only way I really buy games now, is if they're discounted. I only buy on launch for games that I'm very very eager for these days, and while I'm glad to have this collection for my current-gen console I won't pretend that some may balk at buying the same game twice.

Some of the greatest, most outlandish stories ever told in gaming
I thought this was gonna be a quick nostalgic trip when I picked this up. Next thing you know, I'm steamrolling through every game in the series, picking up a used PS3 to play Guns of the Patriots and Peace Walker, and watching Youtube videos at 2AM about the origins of Les Enfants Terribles. Buyer beware
