You'd be surprised how nice this product is for the price point, but Donner delivers once again. All-in-all, this is a pretty basic bass synth, but it sounds nice through an amplifier, headphones, and speakers, and it's surprisingly premium-feeling for its budget price point. I haven't used all of the features this piece offers yet, but what I have used so far is extremely intuitive and honestly just fun, as a good synth should be. Add into the mix that the build quality is stellar and far above what you'd expect for such an inexpensive analog synth and it also just looks gorgeous that I'd say it's a synth that earns a spot on even a veteran rack with the fantastic experience and versatility it provides. I would certainly recommend.

It's a 303 clone, what else is there to say. The firmware update to add song mode is great, you can chain patterns, so up to 256 steps. The effects are just so-so. The distortion adds a lot of crunch, but the echo is a bit weak, even at full setting it is barely noticeable, it's there, but barely. Nice that it has midi in/out, a headphone stereo out and a mono line out. The sync in and out can be set for various other small instruments, pairs with my korg volcas. One big advantage I see over other clones is the free software, lets you download all the patterns, edit them and load them into the unit. With 128 patterns, you may not need more, but, it is nice to not have to do all the programming via the panel. All this for under $100 when on sale! I was skeptical of the Donnor brand based on other reviews, it's priced perfect to let me play around and I'm not disappointed.

Significantly easier to program than an original 303. Sonically....is it an EXACT match? I don't know, and I don't really care. It's got the right vibe and feel, capable of deep, earth-shaking bass and squelchy fat leads, with sick analog oscillators, filters, and controls. I had a Roland TB-3 prior to this, and there were things about the TB-3 interface that were cool, but it was complicated to program actual basslines and melodies, and the touchscreen interface was better at real-time modulation than composition/performance, for me. I like the Donner interface much better. One downside is there is a faint but audible hiss, instead of dead silence, when this machine is not making music. In a live context it would probably be unnoticeable, but in a studio recording, you would want to gate it or noise-remove it after recording.

Sounds good. Fun to play. Lots of good preset patterns. The distortion is good. The built in delay not so much. I use an outboard delay pedal and it's much better. As other reviews have noted, it has a high noise floor. But for the money, the Donner 303 is a good purchase. Hard to justify buying the Roland boutique 303 that costs almost $500.

Obviously there are bigger and better bass sequencers out there, but they also have bigger price tags. Cant beat this for the price. Solid build and dead easy to use. Good variety of effects and simple to get up and playing. Full manual available on manufacturer's website. Definitely recommend

Is this really an analog synth? Is it even useful at this price? Yes to both. I have not imagined a monophonic analog synth at this price point and was skeptical about how useful it could even be in terms of sound quality. However, you do get that nice analog bass that's perhaps a little buzzy and slightly noisy envelope/amplifiers but it is analog and has some character. The included sequencer patterns are numerous and quite useful, even though they are only 4 bars / 16 steps. To change the sound signature you have to fiddle with the dials - there are no presets. This tracks with the price point and this could be a great synth for beginners and those looking to learn analog synthesis. The filter is a bit lacking, and you won't want to turn up the resonance too high and you'll probably want to smooth out some of the attack post-recording but this thing is fun to jam on. If you are thinking of getting something for bass accompaniment, this can definitely do the trick. It won't be anything fancy, but you do get a nice warm bass tone that's not far off from an electric bass guitar. With a midi sequencer, this could play bass lines for accompaniment quite well. Overall, this is a curious instrument and worth a try if you want to dip your toes into the analog world.

I always wanted a 303. The original one on the used market cost a fortune. Almost bought a clone from another company, but let's face it, a 303 is hard to program, it is not intuitive. Donner fixed that. That unit is easy and fun to play. Sync's well with other gear and it sounds great. Not exactly like an original 303, but it sounds good. It is useable. It is not just a toy. It is a legit instrument. Donner has a software to program and save patches. Very easy to use.
