It's worth paying a little bit extra....
This is our third ash vac and you'd think we'd learn! We've melted 2 and that's because we inadvertently sucked up very hot ash. This one has a shut off and hopefully that will stop us from destroying yet another appliance. Sigh. This one has a wired brush attachment for the bbq grill. Ooooo, let's see how quickly we can destroy it this way! All joking aside, I do like this little ash can. And the can is little. You can have to empty it. That's fine. We've also learned to employ the use of our fireplace tools, that rakey thing, the brush and the shovel. (all hanging on a tripod thingy). We had gone a year of scooping and raking out ashes by hand implement so when I found an ash vac and can I was like, hook me up!! There's limitations and of course we realise that now. (in my newb status I did in fact make our ceiling go black with soot from the exhaust.....ah the good old days)

Awesome ash vac
I use this little vac for my ash dump from my fireplace and for sucking up cold ashes in the fireplace. Works incredibly well, high suction and fills quickly. Wish it came with a larger canister. Other than that what an awesome vacuum! A must have for BBQ, fire pit, or wood stove owners.

Good machine. I can eat food cooked on my grill again!
I didn't realize how nasty our gas grill was until I pulled it apart to clean it. As much as I dislike the concept of having a vacuum strictly dedicated to the grill (and the future firepit), it made sense to not use my indoor vacuum to clean them. This does the job, although I use plastic gloves as well. It sucks great. They said to be careful to not vacuum up big chunks (a concern about live embers) but it had been three days since we had grilled so I used the edge of the aluminum pipe to break down the bigger chunks and sucked them right up. Looking at the before and after...the before made me wonder if we should eat anything off the grill at all! But after, it looked really good. We found that it grills better, too, since it unplugged some of the gas holes that had gotten blocked with meat drippings and food particles.Four stars only because of two things:1. The wire brush lost one clump of bristles shortly after I started cleaning with it, but the company replaced it immediately and the replacement brush hasn't had a problem. Fast replacement!2. The one thing I'd like them to add is a narrow, focused tip. There were some places in the grill that I just couldn't reach with the brush or the aluminum pipe.

Four Stars
Nice but would be better with more suction and a longer hose. Update. 2023....been working great. Still wish it had a bit longer hose tho.
