Learning Without Tears is an excellent curriculum for children who need to learn printing and handwriting from a different perspective. Easy to understand demonstration provided.

I love HWOT, and have used this system for my writers with great success, fixing poor handwriting and lack of letter forming uniformity. I’m disappointed that the center pages have pulled out of this workbook, and I’ve taped them back in. It’s still worth it, and I’d buy again - and I didn’t have this problem with other workbooks from the series. I don’t see a visible difference between this book and the other books in the series - maybe the staples changed? Or this particular book just experienced more rigorous use? I couldn’t tell you why. Still, I’m very happy, and ASTOUNDED that my kid moved on from the print workbooks to this cursive book totally seamlessly, as the system has been preparing him for this all along. From a struggling printer two years ago to instant and beautiful cursive in third grade, it’s a testament to HWOT. You should know the first half of this book is teaching the print version of they system, and then moves on to cursive. I felt like this only gave me half a book of cursive, but eventually realized how useful it would be to a child who never used HWOT before this book. I’m happy, would recommend, and I DID buy again, for my second student.

My 7 year old wanted to learn cursive so I got this for him and had him do two pages a day by himself. I feel like I got away with something because he totally taught himself cursive with this book and very little help from me. Full disclosure, he is easy to teach and has a great memory but the book is set up well.

Have used many hwot books over the years and this one doesn't disappoint. I didnt realize this book starts out reviewing proper print writing but that has been a welcome review. My 7 yr has greatly improved both his print and cursive with this book so quickly. He actually looks forward to this book since he is so proud of his accomplishments with it.

Just as the years we’ve used to the previous years books to establish a strong printing foundation- this cursive kickoff lays out cursive letter formation in a logical and easy to follow way. This book includes a thorough review of print letters before starting on cursive letters. Love HWT and am so glad we are using this book to teach our son cursive in our homeschool third grade year.
