Best Value, Great Functionality
This is a review of five different styluses that I have used extensively through the years. What I’ve done is written five separate reviews and combined them into one review. Rating Criteria is generally as follows. If the product works as is advertised and the quality is in line with the price then I give it five stars tentatively, then deduct stars for usability problems, functionality problems, flaws, quality, etc. My primary use for styluses is as a pencil replacement. I use Notability on my iPads to take notes during meetings at work M-F and for church work on Sunday so have a lot of experience with them—I’ve been using them since the first iPad came out. A few general comments: for me, using it as a note taking device, 4.75 inches is about as small as I could find useful and still write like a pencil. Your mileage may vary. As far as lanyards go, they have their uses. A permanently mounted tablet, like I did in my son’s bedroom, is one application where you can always have the stylus right there where you need it. There is a bagel place here in town that uses an iPad mini for its point of sale system—I could see that being another good application for a headphone jack attachment system. Pocket clips are another issue—I like them for my application and wouldn’t buy a stylus without one. No one should deduct points because a stylus doesn’t come with a lanyard or pocket clip—if that is important to you buy one that includes those features. All of these were used with an iPad 3 under similar circumstances. Acase Slim Stylus Acase(TM) Stylus - A-ccurate Slim Stylus Pen for Touchscreen Devices Including Kindle Fire, Apple iPad/iPad2/iPad3, Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab, BlackBerry PlayBook (Jet Black). (Three Stars) After using a series of basic, almost throw-away foam styluses with my iPad I bought this Acase stylus for $7.99 in February 2012. (I still have it but never use it.) I like the idea of a thinner tip. Compared to the styluses I had been using, this is a very good stylus. The rubber tip is superior to the foam ones I had used. The one advantage to a rubber tip is that it “grabs” the screen just a tiny bit, replicating the feel of a pen or pencil being drawn across a piece of paper. It is also a good length that feels like a pen or pencil, and the stylus has some heft to it that projects high quality. It comes with a lanyard on it as well as a pocket clip. The low rating on this device may just be the limitations of a thinner, rubber tip—but after about 8 months I could start to notice more “lag”, where I would move the stylus but the iPad wouldn’t pick it up, more “breaks” in sentences where the device would just briefly stop picking up the stylus’s signal, and just a breakdown in the overall quality of the signal being picked up by the iPad. Having said that, I liked the stylus enough that I replaced it with another of the same stylus—because it really does create a very natural feel to write with, and the experience when this stylus was new was just very good. With a price of $7.99 and a lifespan of 8 months, I just couldn’t justify buying more of these and discovered the hybrid tipped stylus. The amPen Hybrid Stylus Stylus, amPen Hybrid Stylus for iPad Air, iPad Pro, iPad 2/3/4, iPad Mini 2/4, iPhone 6 Plus/6, Nexus 5x/6P, Galaxy Tab S2/E/A/8.0, Galaxy S6 Edge/S6/S5 (Interchangeable Hybrid Tip Feature) Black (Five Stars) I bought this December 26, 2012—after ensuring that the world had not ended five days earlier. The price was $8.95 at that time. I used it almost daily for two years. This is a five-star stylus because it does exactly what I expected it to do and the price at the time was great, and it has since come down another $1.00. This is slightly shorter than a normal pencil. I don’t think it fair to deduct points for the length of an item that has the dimensions clearly listed, but I can understand why the length of this one might throw some people off. Its not a “mini stylus” which are usually marketed for their small size, but its shorter than many other popular models, so if you order this just double check you are Ok with the 4.75” length. Writing with it is easy—it is very smooth. For me, a six-foot male with proportionate sized hands the length is long enough that it does not cramp my hand when writing for extended periods of time. However, if you have larger than average hands it might not be possible to hold this like a pencil as you write. It is perfectly responsive on any application I used it with. It comes with a lanyard and also has a pocket clip. After several months, the pocket clip developed a wobble—it never fell off but it just wiggled about 1mm back and forth—no big deal and it didn’t change my rating. I dropped this stylus on the cement sidewalk one day and it landed directly on the microfiber tip, opening a small hole. This caused that portion of the tip to no longer work, so I ordered another one of these. However, as long as you hold the stylus correctly to make sure the “hole” isn’t facing the screen, the stylus still works. I eventually got tired of forgetting my stylus at work when I needed it at home and vice versa, so I researched a little more and tried a new stylus. TruGlide Pro Universal Stylus TruGlide Pro Universal Stylus Mesh Fiber Fine Point Stylus Pen for All Capacitive Touchscreen Smartphones and Tablets (Silver with Replaceable Black Microfiber Tip) (Three Stars) I bought this after my amPen had its accident, in October 2014 for $14.99. I had tried a slimmer (rubber) tipped stylus earlier (the Acase) and wanted to try a slimmer microfiber tip, since the microfiber tipped amPen was so much better than the thinner-tipped Acase. This one gets three stars because not only was it the most expensive stylus that I bought, it was my least effective microfiber tipped stylus. Construction quality was very good—in fact it’s probably my favorite stylus as far as weight, form, perception of quality, etc—it just feels like it’s a BMW and the others are Toyotas. Not saying the others are bad, but this one just feels the best. However, despite the microfiber tip, it writes like my Acase rubber tipped stylus did after 6 months of use. It requires more pressure than any of the other microfiber tipped ones do, but it also “grabs” every once in a while in a way that has simply never happened with any of the other similar ones. I use a stylus like a pen or pencil to take notes on Notability, and this was the hardest stylus to use that way. It “skips” during long sentences sometimes. My biggest complaint though is what I call “stylus lag”, which is the lag between the time you start writing with the stylus to the time the program recognizing what you are doing. All styluses seem to have this issue from time to time, sometimes you lose the first half inch of what you are writing, sometimes more. But it just seemed like this stylus “lagged” more often than any of the other ones I’ve used. The TruGlide Pro does come with a lanyard a pencil clip. I never had any problems with the tip getting dirty. I still give this three stars, and if I could would give it 3.5, because although the other styluses I have used are superior to this one, this TruGlide Pro was still adequate—its not like it was useless. Modifying my writing style helped clean the “lag” up to reasonable levels as well. But after a couple months I realized I was just using my damaged amPen more than I was using this one so I decided to do some shopping once more. (THIS PRODUCT) The Friendly Swede Replaceable Tip Hybrid Stylus The Friendly Swede Replaceable Tip Hybrid Stylus (3 Pack), Red, Black and Silver (Five Stars) I bought this package on August 25, 2015 for $10.99, and have used one of these at work and another one at home/church extensively since then. I purchased this brand when I needed a replacement for my previous amPen Hybrid Stylus because I got a three pack and could use one at work and one at home and also have an extra. I was otherwise satisfied with the amPen. This feels the most like a normal pencil of the styluses I have reviewed here since its dimensions are close to a pencil. The microfiber tip glides over the screen as it should. This comes with a clip for a shirt pocket, which I also use to keep it in place in my computer bag/briefcase. It also comes with a lanyard and microfiber cloth to clean a screen. Durability has been fine. My only complaint is that the tip has twice fallen off in my bag or shirt pocket. They are replaceable, which is a great idea, but for whatever reason on my work stylus the tip has wiggled itself lose twice. If I could deduct half a point, I would do so, because that is a design flaw. If it does it again I will put some Loctite or something on it. I have not had any problem with the microfiber tip getting dirty, and I do not use any extra precautions. I treat it just like I would treat a pen with the lid on—I clip it into its spot in my case and sometimes just toss it into the case. The TruGlide Stylus with Microfiber Tip, TruGlide Stylus with Microfiber Tip for new iPad, iPad Mini, iPhone 5, iPhone 4, Kindle Fire, Samsung Galaxy Tablet and Smartphone, Nook, all Touch Screen Tablets (Classic Black with Tether) (Five Stars) is a smaller stylus with a microfiber tip that I got for a specific application, not note taking. The price was $7.99 when I purchased it on August 25, 2015. This is a five-star stylus, if you are looking for a smaller stylus. If you are using a stylus for a pencil-like experience on a larger tablet, this will work but just keep in mind it is shorter than a regular pencil. For some, that is going to be a “plus” because it may be easier to use with programs that use “wrist detection” in the software program but for others it will seem unnatural. I don’t think it is fair to deduct points for the size of this when it clearly states its dimensions in the product description. The responsiveness is great, it glides across the screen perfectly, and the price is fair. I bought two of these and they both seemed to be of good initial quality. I have used these in daily use, but to be fair these have received the least amount of use of all the styluses in this review—but they have not had durability problems. I like the fact that it comes with a mounting option to use the headphone jack. In practice, however, I don’t think that is as useful as I thought it would be. Instead, I have mounted a tablet in-wall in my kid’s bedroom, and hidden a strong magnet in the wall. I disassembled this stylus and put a steel nail inside the hollow body, then reassembled the stylus so he can just stick this to the magnetic part of the wall. There is no clip on this to clip it on to your shirt pocket or anything else.

Great Product!
We recently installed two touchscreen HP all-in-ones for visitors to sign in and out when onsite. The software we are using also allows us to require a signature when signing in, and I wanted something to make that more natural than using a finger. I looked at a lot of other touchscreen pens, but I settled on these for the durable looking tips and nice color range. Ended up order the silver, black and red pack as our company colors are red and black. Now that we have them in hand, they have a great feel to them and I can see the tips lasting much longer than the standard version. I also really like that they send a replacement nib for each pen, as well as a cord for each to attach them to your mobile device/tablet (even though I don't personally need them). Also included is a dust cloth and plastic zip up bag for storing all the pieces! Honestly, any company that sends me a case to store all the extras in so I don't lose them is a company I can happily support! Plus, you can never have too many screen cleaning clothes :) My only complaint, which is more a personal preference than an actual issue, is I wish they were a little heavier so they felt more like a pen this size would feel when signing. But, if you are looking for something light to use for extended periods of time, these will definitely minimize the strain and keep your hand from tiring! I will definitely be purchasing more of these once the three I have now wander off :)

They are good pens but the dimensions on the ad are not correct.
My new iPad tablet protector has a spot to keep your pen when not in use. It is bigger in diameter than the one I had for my smaller iPad that I replaced with a bigger one. The thickness/diameter of these pens are the exact same as my previous pens. In fact, almost every pen on Amazon appear exactly the same. I am sure they are made at the same factory or else they are made exactly the same. The pens are too skinny for my tablet case so I wanted a thicker pen. I went through the descriptions of every pen and these had a diameter much thicker than the others so I ordered them. They are very good pens. The ends work very well for general use, i.e. just touching and grabbing not drawing. But I returned them because I already had several left from my last order and they never break and I am good about not losing them (using the pen slot holders on my smaller iPad). The new soft case's (which I like very much) pen storage slot is bigger than the previous one. I don't need the Apple electronic pen which may have a bigger diameter. These "new" pens will not stay (at all) in this larger slot. I sent them back. Now I put medical cloth tape to increase the pen diameters and I just received some heat shrink tubing that may work better. If they fixed the dimension descriptions I would not be unhappy. The pens work very well. I have yet to need to replace the soft metal mesh tips. I do use the alcohol screen cleaner I use on my tablet screen, on the optical class wipe, to run across the mesh. I don't know if that helps but I have been using the same pen and tip for over a year now.

Excellent Stylus
Very nice, slightly longer than my original which, I found is significantly better. Much more stable in my grip.

Great for playing puzzle games!
I'm a mom who plays puzzle games with my kids and fingers (especially wet/sweaty ones) are not the best "tool" for such games so I ordered these stylus for myself and for the kids. I also ordered the MEKO 2-in-1 precision series because my daughter loves drawing on her phone and I do know that this particular stylus may be a bit chubby and lack the precision for drawing. Anyway, the verdict is that I love the Friendly Swede stylus and yet my daughter preferred the MEKO ones all the way. Why? I guess it's because we have different habits/playing style. Here is the detail comparison of both and I hope that can help people choosing the one suits their needs better. The Friendly Swede ones are super light weight while the MEKO ones feels more solidly built and also a lot heavier. The weight does start to matter if you use the stylus for 30 minutes or longer. The MEKO ones also have a thicker rubber no-slip grip that's supposed to make holding it more comfortable. But this feature really doesn't matter due to the weight difference. I can hold the Friendly Swede one for a long time and doesn't feel a thing. The MEKO ones have two heads, one is the precision side with a disc and since the Friendly Swede doesn't have this feature we will be focusing on the knit head. The Friendly Swede has a much chubbier head and it is softer while the MEKO one is more sleek and harder. So again, it's a personal preference. I personally prefer the Friendly Swede one because I thought it requires a lot less effort. Sometimes when I need to move very fast on the screen the Friendly Swede one can do that without much force while with the MEKO one I had to push harder in order to keep the contact and that slows down my movement. However, my daughter doesn't seem to have a problem with that with the MEKO one and it could be that she is used to putting more force when playing to begin with. And since I preferred the Friendly Swede ones so I've been using it everyday for the past 7 months and I barely used the MEKO ones so it won't be fair to compare their durability. So I would only comment on the durability of the Friendly Swede one alone. As mentioned, I'd been using it very day and sometimes even two hours or more per day for the past 7 months. The head did come loose after a while but I just tightened it up so that's not a problem. The paint on the body does start to rub off, you can see it in the picture (sorry about the blurry picture, I'll try to take a better one later). It's actually not as bad as seen in the picture but definitely noticeable. It doesn't bother me but if it bothers you then you might want to take that into consideration. The knit head still functions perfect after 7 months extensive use. Another note is that I used it on iphones and on a Samsung tablet and it worked fine on both. So all in all I think it's definitely worth the money paid.

Good product/price except for the 2 that came BENT and smooshed in:(
The Good: Seems to be well put together well and is of good quality. The microfiber tips are great so far. They glide on the screen nicely and seem to be better than the rubber tipped styli I've used in the past. Colors are beautiful. They are shorter than my galaxy s9+ and has the little metal clip like a pen has, as well as the phone/tablet headphone port lanyards with each one. I'm using one with my galaxy s9 plus and one with my kindle HD 10.1-I like having a stylus when doing various tasks/using certain apps. The 3 extra tips and the microfiber cloth are both an added bonus(the cloth is one of those good to have items that you never seem to have on hand) and for the price I think it was a nice touch. Came in a nice ziplock bag with each stlyi in it's own open top plastic wrapper. The cleaning cloth is sealed in it's own bag. The lanyards are in their own tiny ziplock bag too. The OK: As a preference I like a more narrow tipped stylus. These are a bit wider than I would like. That's not a good or bad thing-just thought to mention it here. Also, as my own preference, I like a heavier stylus but many prefer the lighter ones. It doesn't feel cheap or anything-its just light. The not so good: The lanyard/tether cord doesn't stay in my headphones port on my phone very well. It seems like it could break off easily if it did fit into your phone's headphone port snugly. Anyway, this is such a minor thing and not important to me but for those that are buying these for the cord, just be advised not to expect too much-it's almost like a rubberband-ish thing with tiny ring on one side to attach the stylus on one end and on the other end that goes into the headphone port of your device. Overall, these are a good product. It is not way better or way worse than any others out there(but its definitely better than some I've had) I do like the microfiber tips better than rubber and the "refill tips" is like you are getting 6 new styli instead of 3. I would reccomend these to anyone as an everyday stylus. If you want a more narrow, pen-like stylus this one might not be for you but if you dont mind(or if you even like)the wider tips don't hesitate to get these. The colors are cute and as an everyday stylus-it is more than adequate if the 2 were not bent. Which leaves me with the Bad to tell you about. The Pretty darn BAD: 2 of my styli came bent and smooshed in very badly. The pink one and the Blue one are very pretty but both are bent so badly it's almost as if it has been run over with a ups truck or something! I'm so sad about this because the purple one is perfect other than the slight and insignificant issues:(

I'm already in love. The stylus pens feel expensive and premium
I'm not sure if I've ever felt compelled to leave a review this quickly. I actually just got these in the mail today. I just bought a Samsung Chromebook Pro and have some qualms about using the plastic stylus that comes with the device. I used to own a Samsung Note II, and it's only a matter of time before it digs a scratch right into the screen as it did with my old device. I wasn't really sure what I was looking for or if they make it, but I typed "soft-tipped stylus" into the search thinking I'd find a rubber or silicone tipped stylus of some sort. I found these. I'm already in love. The stylus pens feel expensive and premium, while still being very light weight. The tips are soft and squishy, and kind of remind me of spandex or some other soft material. The packaging was a nice touch. It comes in a little resealable zip travel pouch, and even comes with a cleaning cloth and 3 extra tips (in addition to the 3 already attached). There is also some sort of tether to attach them to your device. I haven't gotten to use them a whole lot yet, but I tried out some doodles in Google Keep and I was impressed. The reason I bought a Chromebook that doubles as a tablet is because my line of work involves taking handwritten notes for clients, so half of the whole reason I got the device is for the stylus functionality. This will work perfectly for my needs, and I feel a lot better about using these stylus pens regularly than the ones that came with the device, knowing I'm a lot less likely to scratch the screen from continual use. These are functional and stylish, love them!
