Very useful for weak hands and grip

Very comfortable to use. Other reviewers have critised the accidental operation of the forward reverse switch. I find with the screwdriver ball in the palm of my hand, index finger and thumb driving the screw (when loose) the middle finger naturally rests on the switch preventing its accidental operation. The only issue I can find is with the spring ring used to hold the bit whilst in dumpy screwdriver mode, and the difficulty removing the bit. Overall a quality piece of kit.

Has a strong magnet, so holds bits well. Comfortable to use. Great that it reduces to a stubby driver. Only downside seems easy to knock the ratchet selection switch when using it.

So, I was really looking forward to this receiving this ratcheting screwdriver. I already have some other Vessel screwdrivers and really rate them. The screwdriver arrived well packaged and the ratchet worked well. Also in the package was a genuine Vessel philips 2 bit. The end of the screwdriver has a magnetic bit holder and worked well with the supplied philips 2 bit. However, when you separate the screwdriver to expose the stubby section, you find that the stubby section doesn't have a magnetic bit holder, but instead has the non magnetic clip version. I did already know this as I had looked at some reviews online. The big PROBLEM with the screwdriver I received, is that when you clipped in the Vessel supplied philips 2 bit into the stubby section, you couldn't get it out. You had to use pliers to pull the philips 2 bit out. This isn't because I'm weak, or the bit was oily. It was because the spring clip was way too strong. This is also mentioned in a 1 star review (on Amazon US) dated in November of 2023 which says.........."I have to use considerable force and pliers to insert bits into the stubby and then pull them out. The same issue with the stock bits and any third party bits like Wera or Wiha. The stubby is just grabage." I was very close to returning the screwdriver even to the point of booking in the return with Amazon. I then changed my mind and ended up modifying the screwdriver. I took out the clip in the stubby bit holder and drilled down into it with a 6mm drill and then glued in 2 x 6mm x 3mm magnets. I also then had to roughen up the outside of the metal bit holder shaft of the stubby section and sprayed some "Mitre fast" glue onto it, then started twisting sandpaper round until it was the right diameter for a nice tight fit into the other part. Now it is the lovely Vessel scewdriver that I should have got! My one may have just been faulty of course.

This is a different take on the ratcheting screwdriver. It's got a ball-hold, that fits in your palm. Seems made for reaching and more precise tasks. You can hold it still in your palm, and control the screwing with your fingers, the twist the hold thing to finish the job. It has a long, thin shaft. The yellow collar stiffly twists to control direction. Opposite twist of that to your desired direction. Hard to activate by accident, and a little hard to active intentionally also. Accepts the standard 1/4th inch bits, which secure by a VERY strong magnet with no locking function. Takes some force to get them out. Ratcheting is smooth, with a loud, metallic clicking sound. A little louder, and more metallic than most. The back ratchet is very light, easier than usual. Less likely to unscrew a less firmly planted screw. There is a little bit of lateral handle wiggle/slop, and some rotational wiggle also. About average for a good ratcheting driver. The handle is hard rubber where the knurling is, and hard plastic elsewhere. The way it fits in your hand, it feels more suited to precise work rather than brute force turning. Surprisingly comfortable. Easy to push down a little harder on the screw though with your palm. Overall, very nice and quite unique. I like how you can hold the screw in place and twist the shaft with your thumb and index finger to start, then twist with your wrist once it tightens up a little. Worth a try being so different from the traditional form. Above are come comparison photos for size and shape.

Vessel ist als Marke in Europa ziemlich unbekannt. Gerade die hervorragenden japanischen Handwerkzeuge sind schwierig zu bekommen. Schön dass Amazon hier inzwischen einen bequemeren Weg anbietet. Bei einer Bestellung dieses Ratschen-Schraubendreher muss man sich aber darauf einstellen, dass das Werkzeug aus den USA geliefert wird, wo Vessel auch offiziell vertreten ist. Zum Werkzeug: Ich liebe es. Er ist kompakt und durch die Kugelform extrem handlich. Wer die Schraubendreher von Vessel mal in der Hand gehabt hat, weiß was ich meine. Durch die lange und relativ schmale Spitze kommt man auch an schwierig zu erreichende Stellen. Die Ratsche funktioniert einwandfrei und ist leichtgängig. In Kombination mit dem dazugehörenden Bitset („VESSEL 30-teiliges Schraubendreher-Set, Torsion, Typ "Impact Ball" + Bithalter“) ist man praktisch für jeden Anwendungsfall gerüstet.
