Drawing Digital: The complete guide for learning to draw & paint on your iPad

The difference between this "How-To" book (by Lisa Bardot) and other digital-drawing "how-to" books.... is the fact that Lisa is a born teacher and a digital artist. It makes a huge difference. The problem with similar books, is that most are written by digital artist...not digital artist who are also great teachers. Lisa's lessons/instructions are broken down into very simple, crystal clear examples. She slowly builds-up into more and more detailed steps, yet at the same time she still keeps each lesson simple and clear. I own nearly a dozen "How-To" digital drawing books. Lisa Bardot 's (Drawing Digital) book just zoomed to the top of this list. This book is great for Procreate & iPad digital drawing beginners.... but it is also good for the pro who wants to learn those few steps & tricks that they have always been a little fuzzy about "fully" understanding. Please note: My only complaint: is that the Kindle version (how the pages load) are "chopped-up" a bit.... which makes reading some lessons annoying. ....The Paperback has deeper-richer color and streamlined lessons.... So, buy the Paperback... you won't regret it.

I have ordered a few books about using Procreate and have gotten lost by the end of the first chapter. I resorted to YouTube videos and discovered Lisa Bardot. I had to watch on my computer while following along on my iPad with lots of pauses so I could catch up, but the information was presented clearly and Lisa was an entertaining teacher. When this book came out, I grabbed it. It’s step-by-step and provides fun projects that both teach you to draw and how to use Procreate. I feel so much more proficient now. It’s well worth the money. I would recommend the print book - I buy lots of digital books, but can’t imagine this one being easy to use in digital format.

This is the best instructional book I’ve found to learn Procreate. Explains brushes, layers, color palettes. An all around great book. Would recommend to all Procreate beginners.

I’ve been a huge fan of Lisa Bardot and have been following her on social media (mainly YouTube) for years now so to say I was excited that she was coming out with her first book on drawing in Procreate is an understatement. This book has just the right amount of content - not too much to make it uninteresting to learn yet not too little to make it unforgettable. Lisa provides a great overview and introduction to what beginners using Procreate can expect. There are really nice tutorials on drawing and she talks about shortcuts as well as highlights the entire user interface. If you are new to Procreate or wanting to get more out of Procreate, pick up this book- you will not be disappointed.

Excellent book. Wishing I’d bought this years ago when it came out!! I use procreate daily, but I hated sitting through YouTube videos to learn all the tricks. So while I knew a lot of these and didn’t need the art instruction, her simple and very clear explanations of tools I’d missed are invaluable! I wish she had an advanced version!!

This book makes digital art accessible to average artist wannabes like me. The book is an effective tool for learning the software and also developing as an artist. The book itself is also beautifully produced with excellent written and visual explanations of the concepts covered. I find the author’s YouTube videos to have been a great guide for exploring creativity, but working from this book is a different, more personal and leisurely experience.

Love this book. It was well worth the wait. This book has sped up my designing and it's a joy to read and adapt to my ideas. Definitely happy with this purchase!

This is an excellent book for anyone new to Procreate, or, as in my case, has been learning how to navigate its features and now want a guide for practical use. The tutorials and exercises are helpful in understanding how to use Procreate in creating your artwork, and her explanations of the Procreate features are more in-depth than just reading about what they are for. I understand so much better how I can utilize Procreate to produce the kind of art I desire. She is an excellent teacher.

I was already familiar with the youtube tutorials and I have purchased various procreate brushes from the author. Great reference book. Lovely diagrams . I bought the Kindle version but wish I'd got the hard copy instead.
